      <p class="para_topic">Editing Options gives you a set of options to use to modify the tool path for the operation on which you are working. These options can be applied to commands chosen either graphically or through the text listing.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Cut</div>
      <p class="para_division">Cut removes the selected parts of the tool path. This part of the tool path can later be pasted back in a different position. The cut part of the tool path will be stored in memory until a new part of the tool path is cut or copied.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Copy</div>
      <p class="para_division">Copy allows you to duplicate the selected parts of the tool path. A duplicate of this part of the tool path can later be pasted back in a different position. The copied part of the tool path will be stored in memory until a new part of the tool path is cut or copied.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Paste</div>
      <p class="para_division">Paste will insert the tool path command or commands that were last cut or copied into the tool path. They will be inserted after the command currently highlighted in the text listing.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Insert</div>
      <p class="para_division">Insert allows you to insert new commands into the tool path. The new command will be inserted directly after the command that is highlighted in the text listing. You can do this by using the following options:</p>

      <div class="title_division">Text</div>
      <p class="para_division">Text allows you to enter commands into the tool path as text. Any command can be entered, but GOTO or CIRCLE commands will be seen only as text in the Tool Path Editor and will not be displayed as a tool motion on the graphical display.</p>
      <div class="title_division">GOTO</div>
      <p class="para_division">GOTO allows you to insert a linear tool motion (GOTO point) into the tool path. This linear tool motion will be displayed as a tool motion in the graphical display.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Insert GOTO</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Options under Insert GOTO become active when GOTO is toggled on. These options will help you to define a linear tool motion to be inserted into the tool path.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Specify Point allows you to specify a GOTO point to be inserted by using the Point Subfunction.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Specify Tool Axis</p>
            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#f7f7f7" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">Specify Tool Axis allows you to specify the Tool Axis for the GOTO point to be inserted using the Vector Subfunction. This function will only be available for multi-axis operations. If no tool axis vector is specified, the Tool Axis of the GOTO command that precedes this one in the tool path,after it is inserted, will be used.</p>

      </table><br><div class="title_division">Feed Rate</div>
      <p class="para_division">Feed Rate allows you to choose a Feed Rate value to be assigned to the linear tool motion that you are specifying. These Feed Rate options are based on the type of cut the linear tool motion will be. The Feed Rate options are explained below.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Custom</p>

            <td bgcolor="#f7f7f7" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">assigns the feed rate value you enter into Custom Feed Rate.</p>

         </tr>
      </table><br><div class="title_division">Custom Feed Rate</div>
      <p class="para_division">Custom Feed Rate allows you to enter a value for the Feed Rate. This Feed Rate value will be applied to the GOTO command when the Feed Rate option is set to Custom.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Insert Text</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Insert Text area of the Insert dialog becomes active when Text is toggled ON. It allows you to enter commands as text into the Key in Text field. Any command can be entered, but GOTO or CIRCLE commands will be seen only as text in the Tool Path Editor and will not be displayed as a tool motion on the graphical display.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Move</div>
      <p class="para_division">Move will allow you to move an existing GOTO point to another position. You have to choose the point to be moved in the text listing or in the graphical display. You can move the point using the following options:</p>
      <p class="para_division">To a Point allows you to specify the point to where you want the GOTO point to go. This is done using the Point Subfunction.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Delta allows you to enter values for the GOTO point to move in the X, Y, and Z directions.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body"> The Move GOTO will be grayed out if any selected location is at the beginning or at the end of a circle.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Extend</div>
      <p class="para_division">Extend Cuts allows you to extend out the cutting pass of a Zig or Zig-Zag type of cut for a surface contouring operation. You can select the cut passes to be extended by using Type to show how linear and circular extensions can be applied to the cut pattern.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">Extend will be grayed out from the main dialog if any non-qualified event is selected for editing, i.e. it will be available only when all selected events are of first_cut/last_cut motion types. The first_cut will be defined as first cut type motions after an engage or stepover for a zig or zig-zag cut type. Similarly the last_cut will be defined as the last cut type motion before a retract or stepover type motion.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body"> Extend is only available for Zig and Zig-Zag Surface Contouring operations. It is grayed for all other types of operations.</p>

      </table>
      <div class="title_division">Linear Tangential</div>
      <p class="para_division">Linear Tangential will add a linear extension tangentially to selected cutting passes of the tool path. Enter a value for Distance to specify the length of the linear extension.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Circular Tangential</div>
      <p class="para_division">Circular Tangential will add a circular extension tangentially to selected cutting passes of the tool path. Enter values for Angle and Radius to specify the Circular Extension.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body"> Linear and circular extensions can be used exclusively or in combination to extend cutting passes of the tool path.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Gouge Free</div>
      <p class="para_division">Gouge Free will create an extension that is adjusted, whenever possible, to avoid gouging part faces. This will work when it is toggled ON.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Trim</div>
      <p class="para_division">Trim allows you to remove cutting passes by selecting them individually or by selecting a permanent a boundary. This option is available only for Surface Contouring operations due to ability of Non-Cutting Moves to reconnect the tool path without gouging the part as illustrated below.</p>

      <div class="title_figure">Cutting Pass Trim</div>
      <p class="para_division">Trimming with a boundary enables you to remove the cutting passes on either the inside or outside of the boundary. This technique can be used to isolate and remove areas of the tool path (to avoid clamps, fixtures, etc.) or to remove all but an isolated area of tool path for further machining.</p>

      <p class="para_division">Trim gives you the following options:</p>

      <div class="title_division">Data Selection</div>
      <p class="para_division">Data Selection allows you to use only Specify Boundary to select the tool path. Only permanent boundaries can be chosen. Permanent boundaries need to be specified before entering into the Tool Path Editor.</p>

                  <p class="para_warning_body">  CAUTION: If you choose Specify Boundary, the system will assume that the whole tool path will be trimmed by using a boundary. The system will disregard any cutter passes that you had selected before entering trim. If you are trimming cutter passes from the tool path that you have selected, skip the Data Selection section of the dialog.</p>

            </td>
         </tr>
      </table>
      <div class="title_division">Keep</div>
      <p class="para_division">Keep allows you to specify what part of the cutter path will be trimmed with respect to the selected boundary. Keep gives you the following options:</p>
      <p class="para_division">Inside will cause the system to keep the parts of the cutter passes that fall inside of the boundary and trim what is left outside of it.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Connection Method</div>
      <p class="para_division">Connection Method allows you to specify how to reconnect the divided parts of the tool path. The following figure illustrates how the tool path can be reconnected.</p>

      <p class="para_division">The choices Connection Method gives you are listed below. </p>

               <p class="para_td">allows you to specify a Clearance Plane to connect the tool path. For each cutting pass that encounters the trimmed area, the tool goes to the Clearance Plane and repositions itself to resume where the cutting pass begins again . The Clearance Plane can be specified using the options under Define Clearance Plane.</p>
            </td>
         </tr>

               <p class="para_th">Linear</p>
            </th>
            <td colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">will reconnect each pass using a straight line where the pass ends to where it resumes. This linear will move at a rapid feed rate. A slowdown distance can be specified in the customer defaults to slow the tool down before starting the next cut. If slowdown distance customer default is set, the cut feedrate will be applied to the slowdown distance.</p>

         </tr>

               <p class="para_th">Region</p>
            </th>
            <td colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">will also have an option to connect either using gouge-free movements or a simple point to point connection. The multiple regions will be connected using a clearance plane move. For multiple region connection, the system will automatically calculate the maximum z-value based on tool paths selected for trimming and use a factor of 1.1 to define a clearance plane for a fixed axis surface contouring. Region method will follow same rules as in Drive Paths by Boundary Method for creating multiple regions and connecting them. Trim will be made available only for Surface Contouring Operations. The Gouge Free option will be available only when the connection method is chosen to be a Region method.</p>
            </td>
         </tr>

      <p class="para_division">Clearance Plane allows you to specify a Clearance Plane for repositioning the tool across an area where the tool path has been trimmed. You have the following options:</p>
      <p class="para_division">Use Operation will use the clearance plane that already exists for the operation.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body"> If the operation being edited is from Surface Contouring and has multiple clearance geometry defined as part of the operation, the first plane that was created will be selected by the system for this option.</p>

      <p class="para_division">Specify will allow you to specify a plane using the Plane Subfunction.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Gouge Free</div>
      <p class="para_division">Gouge Free creates gouge free extended motions over the selected operation geometry whenever possible.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Reverse</div>
      <p class="para_division">Reverse allows you to reverse the direction of certain tool paths. This option is designed primarily for milling operations. It does not apply to Point to Point, Face Milling, any lathe operations or WireEDM.</p>
      <p class="para_division">When a tool path is reversed, the motion types of the new path are switched as follows.</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Engage &lt;&gt; Retract</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Approach &lt;&gt; Return</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">FROM point &lt;&gt; GOHOME</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">Before reversing, if the tool path has multiple cut layers causing the tool to cut from top to bottom, then reversing the tool path will cause the tool to cut from bottom to top. The reversed tool path will also only contain one set of first cut motions, no matter how many first cut motions the tool path had before it was reversed.</p>
