      </table><br><p class="para_topic">Autodetection Control allows you to manipulate the  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mfgturning/turn_cut_regions1.html');return(false);">Cut Region</a> through the following options:

      <p class="para_topic">The last three parameters take effect only in the case of open contours, and only if a containment has not been set.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">&nbsp;The system can detect multiple cut regions simultaneously, but it only cuts one detected cut region per operation unless the <b class="uiTerm">Machine All</b> option is turned on.

      <p class="para_topic">The value you specify in the Minimum Area edit field prevents the system from generating unwanted cutting motions for extremely small cut regions. It serves as a filter for cut regions by not considering any region whose area (with respect to the cross-sectioned workpiece) is less than the specified value for machining. </p>

      <p class="para_topic">In the above figure, the system detects the cutting area  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/num_2.gif" border="0"> as the amount of material left is greater than the area input in the Minimum Area parameter (represented by  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/num_1.gif" border="0">). Area  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/num_3.gif" border="0"> is not detected as its area is smaller than  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/num_1.gif" border="0"> and the system will therefore not revisit it for cutting.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">If you uncheck the Minimum Area option, the system considers all cut regions whose area is greater than zero. This can be useful when the part you are machining is particularly large so that the minimum areas calculated, although small in area relative to the part, are significant enough to be machined. </p>

      <div class="title_division">Cut Region Parameters - Start Offset / End Offset</div>
      <p class="para_division">The following applies only to:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Open part boundaries</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Boundaries with no containment set</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">If the geometry of a workpiece doesn't touch the blank boundary, the system has its own internal rules to connect the turning feature to the in-process workpiece. These rules are as follows:</p>
      <p class="para_division">If the turning feature does not intersect the in-process workpiece boundary, the processor &quot;auto-completes&quot; the cut region by adding line segments between part geometry and blank geometry. The line from the start point to the blank boundary (see the following figure for start/end point translation) is parallel to the cutting direction while the line between end point and blank boundary will be oriented perpendicularly to the cutting direction by default.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Inputting a Start Offset causes the start point to be moved perpendicularly to the cutting direction. Inputting an End Offset causes the end point to be moved parallel to the cutting direction. With both the start and end offsets, inputting a positive value enlarges the cut region while a negative value reduces its size.</p>

      <p class="para_division">The following applies only to:</p>

      <p class="para_division">You can modify the cut region using the <b class="uiTerm">Start Angle</b> and <b class="uiTerm">End Angle</b> options. If you want to modify the cut region at an angle other than parallel or perpendicular to the cutting direction, you can input a value for these parameters (the following figure shows an example for the end point). Positive values enlarge the cut area while negative ones reduce its size. The angles are measured relative to the connecting lines between start/end point and blank boundary as shown in the following figure and have to be within the open interval (-90, 90).

      <p class="para_division">If you check the Tangential Start/End Extension option, the boundary is extended tangentially at its start/end point to connect to the in-process shape. This is especially useful if you select open part boundaries that have a canted first or last segment and where the layer of remaining material is rather thin.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Checking this option deactivates the start and end offset and the start and end angle parameters. </p>
