      </table><br><p class="para_topic"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/man_cut_meth.gif" border="0"> &nbsp;Manual Cut pattern is an interactive process. The system lets you create a manual cut pattern for a region. There are many tools to help you create motions for your manual cut pattern at one level.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Updating After Part Geometry Changes</div>
      <p class="para_division">Part geometry changes can cause a pattern to lose its association to a region. The pattern is then assigned to the Unused Items group in the Region Cut Pattern dialog. The former region won't contain any actions, will have a cut method of Omit, and a path status of None. </p>
      <p class="para_division">To restore the region:</p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Copy the unused pattern back to the region. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Regenerate the operation.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If necessary, edit the pattern after regenerating.</p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <div class="title_division">Regenerating Existing Manual Cut Pattern Operations</div>
      <p class="para_division">If the regions have changed, then the system behaves differently when regenerating these operations. Changing the geometry, tool, stock, cut levels, or other parameters will cause the regions to change. Because the manual cut pattern is user-controlled, the system can not automatically update it to the new geometry, so some interaction may be required when generating, either from the operation dialog, or from the Operation Navigator. &nbsp;</p>

                  <p class="para_warning_body">Under some circumstances, if a Manual Cut Pattern operation is generated from the Operation Navigator after the part geometry has been updated, it is possible that some or all of the existing patterns will no longer be associative to the cut regions for the operation. These patterns and their corresponding tool paths will be permanently lost. Take special care to examine the generated tool paths prior to accepting them. If you need to regenerate a Manual Cut Pattern operation after geometry has updated, edit it and generate it in the operation dialog. If the patterns are deleted, you can restore them by manually copying them from Unused Items back to their original cut regions. </p>

      <p class="para_division">If a Manual Cut Pattern operation is re-generated through the Edit Operation dialog, you can re-apply the existing patterns to their original cut regions.</p>
      <p class="para_division">If you regenerate from the Operation Navigator, the system attempts to use the previous manual cut patterns. The system displays the following warning: </p>
      <p class="para_division">Regions have changed. Existing cut patterns may no longer be valid. Please inspect the tool path.</p>
      <p class="para_division">You should closely examine the new tool paths to be sure that they are still good patterns. In the Operation Navigator, the tool path status will display a ?, indicating that it is suspect. If you check the Information for the operation (MB3 &rarr; Information), the Diagnostics section contains the warning messages. </p>

               <p class="para_td">Depending on the selected type of action, &nbsp;a selection cursor is always available for you to select a point that is used along with the defined Type of Action. Show the grid and/or snap to grid by the existing Grid function from the main menu bar Preference &rarr; Work Plane.</p>

               <p class="para_td">If you create a move you don't like, you always can choose to Reject it and try another type of action. Otherwise, when you finish defining an efficient tool path for your part, you simply click OK, accepting the pattern.</p>

               <p class="para_td">The manual cut pattern of a region is saved, so that they can be re-used. This is helpful when the cut regions are similar on multiple levels.</p>

               <p class="para_td">The traces of the part, check, and face geometry at each level are available for you to examine.</p>

               <p class="para_td">You also can create new shapes by offsetting all traced shapes of a specific geometry type (part, check, and face) at any level. These offsetting shapes will not be combined (i.e., they may intersect with each other but they do not have self-intersections). However, you will have a choice to combine these offset shapes. In some cases, you may want to position and drive the tool relative to these shapes. You also can create grids that bind a cut region through the existing Grid function from the menu bar, Preferences &rarr; Work Plane. This will help you to visualize the size of a region and to position the tool to a grid point.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Rubberbanding is used for visualization. By sweeping the mouse you can see the cut path to determine how much material will be removed. This will help you make sure that you have adequate coverage. To use the Rubberband, in the Display Option Dialog, set the Path Display to Silhouette.</p>
