      <p class="para_topic">Engage/Retract allows you to define the proper tool motions to engage and retract from the workpiece. Proper engage and retract motions will help avoid unnecessary stress on the tool and dwell marks or gouging the part. &nbsp;</p>
      <p class="para_topic">Engage and Retract is common to all the Milling Processors except Fixed and Variable Contour, which uses Non-Cutting Moves.</p>

      </table><br><p class="para_topic">The Feed Rates figure illustrates the relationship between the various types to tool motions.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">An engage move can actually consist of several distinct tool motions. For example, a tool can start at a FROM point, then move to start point, then move to an engage point above the workpiece; then engage to the cutting level; and finally engage the wall of the part.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">There are automatic and non-automatic methods for defining engage and retract moves. The automatic methods generate the tool motions based on the cutting conditions, the geometry of the part, and various parameters that you set. The non-automatic methods allow you to define that precise path of the tool.</p>
