      <p class="para_topic">After specifying a 2-D or 3-D Tool Display, the system allows you to enter a value for the tool display Frequency. The number you enter defines how often the tool is displayed as it moves from one Cutter Location point to the next. For example, if you enter a 1, the system displays the tool at every Cutter Location point. If you enter a 3, the system displays the tool at every third CL point.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">The CLSF command statement generated by this option might appear as:</p>
      <p class="para_topic">PAINT/TOOL,FULL,1</p>
      <p class="para_topic">If Tool Display is set to OFF, this option will not be selectable.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Pattern Display </div>
      <p class="para_division">Pattern allows you to display a tool holder during tool path Generation and Replay. You can design a tool holder in the Modeling Application, save it as a Pattern, and then use it in the operation to visually check for interference with the part during machining.</p>
      <p class="para_division">To create a Pattern, you must first start a part file and then design the tool holder. For the part file to be used in Manufacturing as a Pattern, you must specify that it be saved as Pattern Data as follows:</p>
      <p class="para_division">File-&rarr;Options-&rarr;Save Options. . .-&rarr;Pattern Data Only</p>
      <p class="para_division">You must then save the part file:</p>
      <p class="para_division">File-&rarr;Save-&rarr;Part</p>
      <p class="para_division">When you Generate the tool path, the system retrieves the specified Pattern, positions the origin point of the Pattern on the Tool Alignment Point, and aligns the Work Coordinates of the Pattern with the Machine Coordinates of the part as illustrated in the following figure.</p>
      <p class="para_division">The Tool Alignment Point is calculated for Mill tools and Lathe tools as follows:</p>
      <p class="para_division">Mill - The Tool Alignment Point is calculated as the Display Tool Height (Z Delta) distance from the centerline bottom of the tool as illustrated below.</p>

      <div class="title_figure">Pattern and Mill Tool Alignment</div>
      <p class="para_division">Lathe - The Tool Alignment Point is calculated as the Display Tool Length (X Delta) and the Display Tool Width (Y Delta) distance from the cutting tip of the tool. This point is the corner of the tool that is opposite to the cutter. For groove tools, it is the corner opposite the Tool Track At position as illustrated below.</p>

      <p class="para_division">In both cases, you should be aware of the alignment position when you establish the origin of the Pattern when using the X Delta, Y Delta, and Z Delta default values.</p>
      <p class="para_division">You can shift the position of the Pattern in relation to the Tool Alignment Point by adjusting the X Delta, Y Delta, and Z Delta values under the Specify option (described below). This enables you to avoid gouging the part with the Pattern.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body"> By design, the system does not automatically flip a lathe tool pattern based on the type of work (ID/OD) or the side of the centerline on which the tool path lies (unlike normal tool display). Instead, the system aligns the MCS of the Pattern file with the MCS of the work part and displays the Pattern accordingly. To display a tool pattern in the 4th quadrant of the work part, the user must set the MCS of the Pattern file such that the tool pattern is at the proper orientation in the 4th quadrant.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Display</div>
      <p class="para_division">Display toggles ON and OFF (default). If it is set to OFF, the Pattern display is inactive. If it is set to ON, the Pattern is displayed according to the Frequency setting defined under the Specify option (described below). This option will be greyed out if a Pattern has not been specified.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Specify</div>
      <p class="para_division">Specify enables you to select the desired Pattern, define the display frequency of the Pattern, and shift the position of the Pattern in relation to the Tool Alignment Point by adjusting the X Delta, Y Delta, and Z Delta values.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Specify</div>
      <p class="para_division">Specify enables you to designate the desired Pattern by keying in an existing part file name or selecting from a list of part files. (the part file must be saved as Pattern Data). Although the Selection field in the subsequent dialog box will accomodate as many characters as you need to designate the desired Pattern, the system only reads up to 31 characters. If the specified part file is in the current directory, the part file name may contain up to 31 characters. If the specified part is not in the current directory, the sum of characters in the path name and the part file name may contain up to 31 characters.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Frequency</div>
      <p class="para_division">Frequency controls how often the Pattern is displayed independent of the tool display. The default value is zero, causing the Pattern display frequency to initially be the same as the tool display frequency. Any number greater than zero controls the display frequency of the Pattern independent of the tool display. For instance, if you enter 3, the Pattern is displayed at every third tool position regardless of the specified tool frequency. It is often desirable to display the Pattern less frequently than the tool to avoid cluttering the screen. Whenever the Tool Frequency is OFF, the Pattern Frequency must be specified as number other than zero.</p>
      <div class="title_division">X, Y, Z Delta</div>
      <p class="para_division">X Delta allows you to enter an offset distance in the X direction to shift the position of the Pattern in relation to the Tool Alignment Point.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Y Delta allows you to enter an offset distance in the Y direction to shift the position of the Pattern in relation to the Tool Alignment Point.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Z Delta allows you to enter an offset distance in the Z direction to shift the position of the Pattern in relation to the Tool Alignment Point.</p>
      <p class="para_division">For a mill tool, the initial Pattern offset is along the Z axis or tool axis. The X and Y values default to zero. The Z value defaults to the tool length. For a lathe tool, the initial Pattern offset is along the X and Y axis. The Z value defaults to zero and the X and Y values default to the Tool Width and the Tool Height respectively.</p>
