      </table><br><p class="para_topic">Whenever you perform a ramping or helical engage into material with a non-center cutting tool, such as an insert cutter, you should set the <b class="uiTerm">Minimum Ramp Length</b>. This ensures that a small island or pillar of material under the center of the cutter is not left uncut by a ramping engage motion (as shown below). &nbsp;

      <p class="para_topic"><b class="uiTerm">Minimum Ramp Length</b> controls the minimum distance that the tool must travel during an automatic ramping or helical engage into material. &nbsp;Minimum Ramp Length is particularly useful with insert cutters where you must have sufficient overlap between the leading and trailing inserts to prevent any uncut material from contacting the non-cutting bottom portion of the cutter.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">If a cut region is so small that there is not enough room for the minimum helical diameter or minimum ramp length, the software inserts a <b class="uiTerm">Ramp on Shape</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Plunge</b> engage.
