Check Geometry allows you to specify geometry (such as part walls, islands, clamps, and so forth) that should not be violated by the tool path. When the tool path encounters that check surface, the tool disengages until it reaches the next safe cutting position. Edit and Select/Reselect display dialog boxes very similar to those used when defining Part Geometry.

Cut Area applies to the Area Milling Drive Method and the Flowcut Drive Method and may be defined by selecting Surface Regions, Sheet Bodies, or Faces. Unlike the Surface Area Drive Method, the cut area geometry need not be selected in an orderly grid of rows and columns.

Refer to the Cut Area discussion in the Fixed and Variable Contour section of this documentation for details on using Cut Area.

Trim Boundaries apply to the Area Milling and Flow Cut drive methods of Fixed Axis Surface Contouring. Trim Boundaries further constrain the cut regions. You may define the area of the cut region to be excluded from the operation by specifying Material as Inside or Outside. Trim boundaries are always Closed, always use an On condition, and are projected to the Part geometry along the tool axis vector. More than one Trim Boundary may be defined. You may specify a Trim Stock to define the distance the tool is positioned from the Trim Boundary, and Boundary Intol/Outol.

Refer to the Trim discussion in the Fixed and Variable Contour section of this documentation for details on using Trim Boundaries.

Part Offset

Part Offset adds to or subtracts from the modeled part geometry by a specified offset (thickness) value. A positive value offsets the thickness outside the part. A negative value offsets the thickness inside the part. The cutter recognizes the Part Offset as the workpiece and machines to it accordingly. Part Stock and Custom Stock are measured from the Part Offset. This is useful when the model geometry is offset from the part you are machining, such as an EDM electrode or a sheet metal die.

You may save the layout and layer of the orientation. This may be desired because machining the part from a specific orientation may be best viewed by looking at the part from a specific orientation on the screen. This does not allow you to specify this data, but only to save the current settings. To save the layout and layer select the Save Layout/Layer button from the Mill Area dialog.
