      </table><br><p class="para_topic">Traverse allows you to specify how the tool moves from the end of Departures (or the end of Retracts if Departure is set to None, or From Point for the <b class="uiTerm">Initial</b> engage.) to the start of Approaches (or the start of Engages if Approach is set to None, or Gohome Point for the <b class="uiTerm">Final</b> retract). Most commonly, traverses occur between Retracts and Engages, or Departures and Approaches.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">By default, the system automatically generates an End Traverse which is the shortest possible path.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Tool Axis Control / Max Tool Axis Difference</div>
      <p class="para_division">Tool Axis Control allows you to specify a limit to how much the Tool Axis orientation can change during the course of Traverse moves and allows the tool axis to gradually and smoothly change its orientation within this range as it moves along the Traverse. This option does not enable you to specify the tool axis orientation (this is done using Tool Axis, Vector), but rather the allowable freedom of movement as the tool axis transitions from one orientation to another.</p>
      <p class="para_division">For End Traverses, this option applies only when the tool axis is different in the subsequent Approach or Engage as illustrated below.</p>

      <p class="para_division">For Intermediate Traverses, this option applies only when the tool axis of one Traverse is different from the tool axis of the next Traverse, or when the tool axis of a Traverse is different from the tool axis of the prior Retract or Departure as illustrated below. Depending on the Maximum Tool Axis Difference value you specify, the tool may have complete freedom to smoothly transition from axis to the next or it may be restricted. Tool Axis Control is only active in Variable Axis Contouring.</p>

      <div class="title_figure">Tool Axis Control for Intermediate Traverses</div>
      <p class="para_division">In the above figure, angle A represents the tool axis difference between Intermediate Traverses. Angle B represents the tool axis difference between an Intermediate Traverse and a prior Retract.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Tool Axis Control is enabled or disabled by a simple ON/OFF switch. When enabled, Tool Axis Control allows you to key in a value defining the Maximum Tool Angle Difference which limits the allowable tool axis change along the Traverse.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Refer to Tool Axis for a description of how to specify the tool axis orientation.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Clearance Geometry</div>
      <p class="para_division">Unlike Engages and Approaches which always move FROM the specified clearance geometry, Intermediate Traverses always move TOWARD the specified clearance geometry.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Tool Axis</div>
      <p class="para_division">Tool Axis provides two options that allow you specify the Tool Axis orientation at the END of the Traverse. These options are only available when using Variable Contour.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Same allows you to specify that the Tool Axis orientation at the end of the Intermediate Traverse be the same as the tool axis orientation at the end of the previous Intermediate Traverse.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Vector allows you to define the Tool Axis orientation at the end of Traverse moves using the Vector Subfunction.</p>

      <p class="para_division">The above figure illustrates a vector that defines the tool axis at the end of Intermediate Traverse number three. Notice that the tool axis must return to its original orientation at the end of Traverse number four because this is the tool axis that is specified for the Engage move.</p>
