      <p class="para_topic">Pattern enables you to define the shape of the tool path. Some patterns cut the entire region while others cut just around the perimeter of the region. Some patterns follow the shape of the cut region, while others are independent of it.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">The selected Pattern determines which options in this section of the dialog box become available. For example, if you select Parallel Lines as the cut pattern, the Cut Type, Cut Angle, and Degrees options become available. If you select Follow Pocket as the cut pattern, only the Inward and Outward options become available.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">Follow Pocket and Profile produce patterns that follow the periphery of the cut region and are dependent on the shape of the cut region. Follow Pocket activates only the Inward and Outward options.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">Parallel Lines, Radial Lines, and Concentric Arcs produce patterns independent of the shape of the cut region. They activate the Cut Type, Cut Angle, and Degrees options.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">Standard Drive produces a cut pattern similar to Profile that follows the periphery of the cut region, but unlike Profile, allows passes to cross one another. Standard and Profile do not activate any of the other options in this section of the dialog box.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Follow Pocket</div>
      <p class="para_division">Follow Pocket creates a cut pattern that produces a sequence of concentric passes following the contours of the cut region. Like Zig-Zag, this cut type maximizes cutting moves by allowing the tool to remain continually engaged during stepovers. In addition to specifying the cut direction as Climb or Conventional, the Pocket Direction must be specified as Inward or Outward.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Profile</div>
      <p class="para_division">Profile creates a cut pattern that follows the perimeter of the cut region. Unlike Follow Pocket which is designed to hollow out the entire region, this option is intended to cut just along the boundary. Profile activates the Additional Passes option which may be used to remove material in a specified number of successive stepovers.</p>

      <p class="para_division">You may create additional passes that allow the tool to step toward the boundary to remove material along the wall in successive concentric cuts by specifying a value in the Additional Passes field.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Profile modifies the tool path so that it does not cross over itself, and so that it does not gouge the part in areas where the cutter is too large as illustrated below.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Parallel Lines</div>
      <p class="para_division">Parallel Lines creates a cut pattern defined by a series of parallel passes. This option requires you to specify a Cut Type of Zig-Zag, Zig, Zig With Contour, or Zig with Stepover and allows you to specify a Cut Angle.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Radial Lines</div>
      <p class="para_division">Radial Lines creates linear cut patterns extending from a user-specified or system calculated optimum center point. This Cut Pattern allows you to specify a Cut Type, a Pattern Center, and pocketing method as Inward or Outward. It also enables you to specify an angular stepover, which is unique to this cut pattern. The Stepover distance for this cut pattern is measured along the arc length at the boundary point farthest away from the center.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Concentric Arcs</div>
      <p class="para_division">Concentric Arcs creates progressively larger or progressively smaller circular cut patterns from a user-specified or system-calculated optimum center point. This Cut Pattern allows you to specify a Cut Type, a Pattern Center, and a pocketing method as Inward or Outward. In areas such as corners that the full circular pattern cannot extend into, concentric arcs are created and connected by the specified Cut Type before the cutter moves to the next corner to continue cutting.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Standard Drive</div>
      <p class="para_division">Standard Drive creates a cut pattern similar to Profile that follows the perimeter of the cut region. Unlike Profile, Standard Drive does not modify the tool path to prevent crossing over itself or to prevent gouging the part. Standard Drive causes the cutter to follow the boundary exactly as it was specified.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Like Profile, Standard Drive activates the Additional Passes option which may be used to remove material in a specified number of successive stepovers.</p>
