<h2>Preparatory, Auxiliary, and Event Formats</h2>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>This option allows you to specify the M and G code formats,
the number of G codes per block, define event code formats, and to specify
the user defined text output strings. These are called Preparatory, Auxiliary,
 and Event Codes.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>You have the following options:</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Preparatory Codes (PREFUN)
Format </span>- specify the word address format for the preparatory function
(G code). For a description of the specification of word address formats
 refer to section 1-26.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Auxiliary Codes (AUXFUN)
Format </span>- specify the word address format for the auxiliary function
(M code). For a description of the specification of word address formats
 refer to section 1-26.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Number Of Preparatory
Codes Per Block</span> - specify the maximum number of G codes that GPM
can output in a single block.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Number Of Auxiliary
Function Codes Per Block</span> - specify the maximum number of M codes
that GPM can output in a single block.</p>

<h5>Dyna Path Control Units</h5>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Event Codes (Sys10
Controls) Required?</span> - specify whether event codes are required.
This option is specific to the DYNAPATH SYSTEM 10 (formerly Bendix System
 10) Controls. You can specify the character for the following functions:</p>

<ul>

	<li class=kadov-P-CNote><p CLASS=Note><span style="font-weight: bold;">NOTE:</span>
You should enter the appropriate value contained in parentheses. The system
does not automatically add the parentheses if you do not type them in.</p></li>
</ul>

<h5>For Mills</h5>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Position Event Code</span>
 - you are prompted to enter the character which represents positioning
on your machine tool. A Positioning Event is normally equivalent to a
rapid traverse or cycle start location using a G00.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Linear Event Code</span>
 - is normally equivalent to a linear interpolation move using G01.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Circular Event Code</span>
 - is normally equivalent to a circular interpolation move using G02 and
 G03.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Subroutine Event Code</span>
 - allows the NC program to call another program during execution.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">M Function Event Code</span>
 - is normally equivalent to an Auxiliary Function.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Delay Event Code</span>
 - produces a machine dwell at the defined coordinate.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Rotate Event Code</span>
 - causes the machine tool to rotate the specified axis.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Repeat Event Code</span>
 - causes the controller to go to a label in the NC program. A label is
a controller dependent text character(s) reserved for program control
(sometimes an [ or ] sign). This label is usually used to cause the controller
to repeat a section of the NC program several times to perform several
machining operations with a small amount of code.</p>

<h5>For Lathes</h5>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Position Event Code</span>
 - you are prompted to enter the character which represents positioning
on your machine tool. A Positioning Event is normally equivalent to a
rapid traverse or cycle start location using a G00.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Turn Event Code</span>
 - causes machine tool motion only in the Z axis.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Face Event Code</span>
 - causes machine tool motion only in the X axis.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Taper Event</span>
 - causes a linear interpolation move in both X and Z.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Circular Event Code</span>
 - is normally equivalent to a circular interpolation move using G02 and
 G03.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Subroutine Event Code</span>
 - allows the NC program to call another program during execution.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">M Function Event Code</span>
 - is normally equivalent to an Auxiliary Function.</p>

<h5>Dyna Path Hints</h5>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>Dyna Path (SYS10) controllers require D (not G) codes
 for clockwise and counterclockwise motion.</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>D0 - indicates clockwise motion</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>D1 indicates counterclockwise motion.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>Here's how to set the MDFG for the Dyna Path controller.</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>From the main MDFG menu, select <span style="font-weight: bold;">Preparatory,
 Auxiliary, And Event Code Formats</span></p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>Set <span style="font-weight: bold;">Event Codes
 (SYS 10 Controls) Required?</span> to <span style="font-weight: bold;">Yes</span>.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>Then:</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>From the main MDFG menu, select <span style="font-weight: bold;">Machine
 Tool Motion Control</span></p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>Select <span style="font-weight: bold;">Motion G
 Codes</span></p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>Select <span style="font-weight: bold;">Normal Motion
 G Codes</span></p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>Select <span style="font-weight: bold;">Circular
 Interpolation Clockwise G Code</span>, make it <span style="font-weight: bold;">Valid</span>,
and enter 0 as its numeric value</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>Select <span style="font-weight: bold;">Circular
 Interpolation Counterclockwise G Code</span> ,make it <span style="font-weight: bold;">Valid</span>,
and enter 1 as its numeric value.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>Then:</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>From the main MDFG menu, select <span style="font-weight: bold;">Output
 File Validation</span> (i.e., this option)</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>Select <span style="font-weight: bold;">G Code Files</span></p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>Select <span style="font-weight: bold;">Circular
 Interpolation Type G Code</span> and make it <span style="font-weight: bold;">Valid</span></p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>Select <span style="font-weight: bold;">Character
For Word Address</span> and enter &quot;D&quot;.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">User Defined Text Output
Required</span> - this option allows you to define text in the MDFG which
is output as either Initial, End, with First Motion, or with a Post Command
in the CL file. This can help reduce editing the CLSF and machine code.
For example, you could output text before GOHOME to turn off the coolant,
spindle, etc. at the end of the path.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>With this option you can add text either before or after
the command such as operator messages, or along with the command as code
 to set additional switches.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>You can also force out previously defined USERCM commands
during LOAD, TURRET, and TMARK alignment blocks, and specify multiple
 alignment block characters.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>You have the following User Defined Text Output menu
 options:</p>

<ul>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Initial Output</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>End Of Output</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>First Motion After
 Turret Or Load</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Load</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Turret</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Tmark</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Cutcom</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Cutcom/Off</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Gohome</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Spindl</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Spindl/Off</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Set/Mode</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>List All Active</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Delete All</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Entry Complete</p></li>
</ul>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>In general, these options are the most common Post commands
to which you might want to add text. Select one of these options and you
have several text related options. Later, you can List All or Delete All
the text you added for the command.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>The Current Status column indicates the number of text
blocks added Before, With, or After the option.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>The options present a similar menu sequence i.e.; you
can Add, Delete, List, and Reorder the text output.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>The <span style="font-weight: bold;">Initial Output</span>
 and <span style="font-weight: bold;">End of Output </span>options are
related to position in output program and do not require some choices.</p>

<ul>

	<li class=kadov-P-CNote><p CLASS=Note><span style="font-weight: bold;">NOTE:</span>
 Be sure to use <span style="font-weight: bold;">End</span> or <span style="font-weight: bold;">Rewind</span>
 when you use the <span style="font-weight: bold;">End of Output</span>
option. Otherwise the text cannot be output.</p></li>
</ul>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">First Motion After
Turret or Load</span> allows you to output a text string Before and After<span
 style="font-style: italic;"> </span>the TURRET command, but only Before<span
 style="font-style: italic;"> </span>the first motion command.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>Use the option <span style="font-weight: bold;">Add
Text Output Block</span> to add text. Toggle the Text Output Mode to indicate
 the text block position.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>Enter text and indicate whether to add the text Before,
After, or With the previous text. Also indicate whether to output a sequence
number with the text or to use an alignment character (usually N, or O).</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>When you choose Position To Add Next Text, the system
prompts you for a numeric value to determine the position for the text.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>For example: if you already have 3 blocks of text and
you choose a value of 2, the text that you enter will be put into the
second position and everything else is bumped down.</p>
