Region Connection allows you to minimize the number of engage, retract, and traversal moves that occur between different cutting regions on a part. A different cutting region is established for every location on the part that cannot be reached by the tool without violating the boundaries or stock values. This option is available only when using Follow Pocket or Profile cut patterns.

Finish Pass

Finish Pass allows you to add a finishing cutting pass at the end of the normal cutting operation to trace around the boundaries. This option is only available when using Follow Pocket, Parallel Lines, Radial Lines, or Concentric Arcs cut patterns. Finish Pass activates the Finish Stock field allowing you to enter a stock value for this pass. The Value you enter here should be equal to or less than the Boundary Stock Value specified in the Boundary Drive Method dialog box.

Corner Control

The Corner Control option is provided to help prevent the cutter from gouging the part as it cuts around corners.

For concave corners, it is possible for the cutter to make a smooth transition between interior part walls by automatically generating Corner Geometry (fillets) that are slightly larger than the cutter radius.

Using slowdown feed rates, in one or more steps, as the tool encounters a wall further assures a smooth transition between walls. As the cutter leaves the corner, it accelerates back to the Cut Feed Rate.

Choosing the Corner Control option displays the Corner and Feedrate Control dialog.

Cut Regions

The Cut Regions section of the dialog box contains two buttons, Options and Display, that enable you to define Start Points and to specify how cut regions are graphically displayed for visual reference. Refer to the discussion of Cut Regions in the Boundary Drive Method for additional details.

Climb Cut and Conventional Cut allow you to define the direction the Drive Path cuts in relationship to the spindle rotation. These options are only available for the Zig, Zig with Contour, and Zig with Stepover Cut Types.
