Preprocess enables you to specify the triangulation tolerance and fixed tool axis parameters, and to compute the triangular facets in advance for selected Faces, Solid Bodies, and Sheet Bodies. Operations using preprocessed bodies no longer need to process this information each time the toolpath is generated. You can Preprocess bodies directly in the part that owns the body or in an assembly that contains components that have body members. If you do not Preprocess, the processing will be done the first time the body is used in generating a Fixed Axis Surface Contouring or tolerant Cavity Milling operation. In either case, the processing data is stored with the body to speed up processing in subsequent operations.

You should delete the user-generated preprocessed data once it is no longer needed to reduce the size of the Part file and save memory space. Preprocess data created by the system when the operation is generated is deleted automatically when the part file is saved.

If you preprocess a solid body and then select faces of that solid body in the operation, the processor will not associate the selected faces with the preprocessed solid body and will therefore need to generate the facets for the faces the first time the operation is generated.

Any time you change the Triangulation Tolerance, Tool Axis, or physically change a previously preprocessed body, the preprocessing must be updated. If you do not Update the preprocessing, the system processes the information when you first generate the operation.
