      <p class="para_topic">Step Type/Dir allows you to specify the cut direction method desired. You have the following choices:</p>
      <div class="title_division">Surface Grid</div>
      <p class="para_division">Two vectors appear near each corner of the defined cut boundary. Use the screen cursor to select the vector which points in the direction you wish the tool to cut.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Two Points</div>
      <p class="para_division">Use the Point Subfunction to indicate the direction of cut. This option is valuable if there are undercuts in the part.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body"> NOTE: In this context, the system projects a Screen Position point indication along the view line onto the surface. That is, the point lies on the surface as you see it; it is not projected down the ZC axis onto the work plane. Points defined using any of the remaining point definition methods are projected down the ZC axis onto the surface.</p>

      <p class="para_division">If the defined point does not project onto the surface, the system displays the Point Not On Surface error message.</p>
      <p class="para_division">After you define the two points, a direction indicator is displayed. The Cut Direction Method menu then redisplays with an additional option - Step Direction.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Optimum</div>
      <p class="para_division">The system determines the best cut direction based on the selected surface and displays a direction indicator on the graphics screen.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Step Dir</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Step Direction option appears in the Cut Direction Method menu only if you choose either Two Points or Optimum to define the cut direction. This option toggles between RIGHT and LEFT.</p>
