      <p class="para_topic">This option allows you to add a new kinematics component to the tree structure that you use to describe the machine tool. You must create a unique K-component for each component to which you would like to assign movement. </p>

            <p class="para_item">With the right mouse button, click on the component in the <b class="uiTerm">Machine Tool Navigator</b> to which you want to add a new K-component. 
            </p>

            <p class="para_item">Select <b class="uiTerm">Insert</b> &rarr; <b class="uiTerm">K-component</b>. The <b class="uiTerm">Create K-Component</b> dialog opens.
            </p>

            <p class="para_item">Name the K-component, then select its geometry by choosing <b class="uiTerm">Add</b>. Using the <b class="uiTerm">Class Selection</b> dialog, you can include either some parts of the geometry or the entire assembly in your K-component. You can also remove components by highlighting them in the list and selecting <b class="uiTerm">Remove</b>.

            <p class="para_item">Confirm the dialog with <b class="uiTerm">OK</b>.

                  <p class="para_note_body">When you begin building your machine model, you must identify a machine base component. There is only one machine base component allowable per machine model. Create this component by right-clicking on the root node and selecting <b class="uiTerm">Insert</b> &rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Machine Base Component</b>. Once you have identified this component, the system does not allow you to identify another base component within the same model. Consult your machine tool manuals to determine the location of this coordinate system and the X, Y, and Z direction for your machine.

               <p class="para_td">The name you choose for your K-component must be unique throughout the model. This is particularly important as the kinematics tree structure can be modified from within the machine tool driver (MTD). The MTD uses the name of the component to identify a kinematics component in certain S&amp;V commands (mount, un-mount K-component). The MTD writer has to document the names of the components to be addressed.</p>

This list shows the names of the geometric entities that constitute the K-component. The names listed here are identical to those in the name column of the assembly navigator.
