      </table><br><p class="para_topic">In Turning, it is sometimes necessary to manually select a cut region. You might need to do this if:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The system detects multiple cut regions.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">You want to indicate to the system to cut on the other side of the centerline.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The system fails to detect any cut region.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The system computes inconsistent cut regions or regions on the wrong side of centerline.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">For closed part boundaries using two trim points, the system identifies the wrong portion of the part boundary as the enclosed one (displayed in the drive curve color).</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_topic">To select a cut region manually:</p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In the operation dialog, click on Containment. The Geometry Containment dialog opens.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose Select Manually. The Point Constructor dialog appears and the cursor takes on the shape of your tool. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click on the cut region in the graphics window that you want to machine. The system marks it with the letters RSP (Region Selection Point). If the system finds many cut regions, it automatically selects the cut region closest to the selected point in the graphics window. </p>
         </li>
      </ol>

                  <p class="para_warning_body">Any Containment, Level, Step, or Cut Angle settings take precedence over the manual selection of cut regions. This can lead to the system not recognizing a cut region even though you have manually selected it. </p>

      <p class="para_topic">Consider the following situation:</p>

      </table><br><p class="para_topic">If you are using a level angle of 0, the system always finds the cut region  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/num_1.gif" border="0"> above, regardless of whether you set the region selection point on the right or left of the axial trim plane shown. Similarly, if you use a level angle of 180, the system always finds the cut region  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/num_2.gif" border="0">, regardless of whether the RSP is on the left or right side of the axial trim plane.
