      </table><br><p class="para_topic">If a workpiece has cut regions that are difficult to reach and to retract from, you can define multiple positioning moves between the start point and engage point, as well as between the retract point and the return point. This keeps the complex positioning path within one operation and eliminates the need to define <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mfgturning/turn_teach.html');return(false);">Teachmode operations</a> for accomplishing this complex positioning.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">Create avoidance paths as follows:</p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In the operation dialog, choose <b class="uiTerm">Avoidance</b>. 
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose <b class="uiTerm">Approach Path</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Departure Path</b> on the <b class="uiTerm">Avoidance</b> dialog.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In the <b class="uiTerm">List by:</b> option on the <b class="uiTerm">Approach</b>/<b class="uiTerm">Departure Path</b> dialog, select whether to show the avoidance points relative to the work coordinate system (WCS) or machining coordinate system (MCS). If you switch from one to the other, the system maps all coordinates in the list to the complementary coordinate system. If the operation has not inherited an MCS, all coordinates are interpreted relative to the WCS.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select new avoidance points as follows:</p>
            <ol type="a" start="1">
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Choose <b class="uiTerm">Select</b> on the <b class="uiTerm">Approach</b>/<b class="uiTerm">Departure Path</b> dialog. The <b class="uiTerm">Point Constructor</b> dialog opens and the cursor changes to the selected tool.
                  </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Select a point in the graphics window. The letters <b class="literalText">AP</b> appear beside the point.
                  </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Choose a <b class="uiTerm">Motion to Approach/Departure Point</b>. For an explanation of these points, see <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mfgturning/turn_geom_avoid_motions.html');return(false);">Motions to and from avoidance points</a>.
                  </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Select a feed rate at which the cutter should move to a particular avoidance point by selecting one of the pre-defined feed rates in the feed rate list, or create your own by choosing <b class="uiTerm">Custom</b> and entering the parameters.
                  </p>
                  <p class="para_item">The approach feed rate is the default feed rate for motions to approach points; the departure feed rate is the default feed rate for motions to departure points. For more information on feed rates, see <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mfgturning/turn_mp_feed_rates.html');return(false);">Feed rates</a>.
                  </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Choose <b class="uiTerm">Add</b>. The new avoidance point is added to the list of selectable points.
                  </p>
               </li>
            </ol>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select or de-select the desired avoidance points in the list of avoidance points on the <b class="uiTerm">Approach</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Departure Path</b> dialog. If you have inherited avoidance points (see <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mfgturning/turn_geom_avoid_proc_creating.html');return(false);">Create avoidance geometry</a>), these appear in the avoidance point list and can be activated or de-activated for this operation. Inactive avoidance points are shown in brackets in the graphics window.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If necessary, modify the order of the avoidance points in the list using the up and down arrows. This correspondingly modifies the tool path.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If necessary, modify the parameters of the avoidance points by selecting them in the list, changing the parameters and clicking <b class="uiTerm">Modify</b>.

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Confirm your selections and return to the <b class="uiTerm">Avoidance</b> dialog by clicking <b class="uiTerm">OK</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Once you select an approach path, you can instruct the system to use the reverse approach path as the departure path by choosing <b class="uiTerm">Same as Approach</b> in the <b class="uiTerm">Departure Path</b> option.
            </p>
         </li>
