      <p class="para_topic">Select allows you to select (cylindrical and conic) holes, arcs, and points. You can select with the cursor, by name, and by any one of the menu options of the Select Points/Arcs menu. (This menu is similar to the Append Points menu.)</p>
      <p class="para_topic">You may use the following different types of geometry to represent a hole in Point To Point operation:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Hole in a sheet body</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Hole in a solid body</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Point</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Arc (or full circle)</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_topic">A hole in a sheet may be either a hole feature or a cylinder subtracted from a planar sheet. A sheet is any zero thickness body that has one or more faces. A sheet does not enclose a volume.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">Points may be used to represent the center of a hole. Points can be used on the face of a sheet or solid, or by themselves.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">A hole in a solid may also be either a hole feature or a cylinder subtracted from a solid. It does not matter if the hole has a chamfer or blend around the edge of the hole. Also, it is not required that the solid face where the hole is located be planar.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">For solid holes, in addition to comparing the tool diameter with the hole diameter, the point angle of the drill tool is also compared with the bottom face of the hole when the bottom face is a straight conical face. The following figure illustrates examples of where the point angle of the drill tool is compared with the conical face.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">In the above figure, the FEDTO point for hole a is calculated assuming the tool point angle equals the angle of the straight conical face at the bottom. The FEDTO point for hole b is calculated at the shoulder because the tool point angle is greater than the angle of the straight conical face at the bottom of the hole. The FEDTO point for hole c is calculated as though the conical face is at the bottom of the hole (as in a) because the tool cannot drill beyond it.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">The following figure illustrates examples of where the point angle of the drill tool is not compared with the conical face.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">In the above figure, the straight conical face at the top of the hole a is ignored, the reverse conical face at the bottom of hole b is ignored, and the straight conical face in the middle of the hole c where the tool can drill beyond the conical face is ignored.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">Choosing Back at this point causes the previous selection to be deselected. Subsequent Backs will continue to deselect holes until none are left.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">If you choose Select, you have the following options:</p>

      </table><br><div class="title_division">Cycle Parameter Set</div>
      <p class="para_division">Cycle Parameter Set allows you to specify which of the previously defined Cycle Parameter Sets you wish to associate with the next point or set of points. The system associates the Parameter Set you choose with subsequently selected points until you change or reset it. The system generates CYCLE/ command statements, as defined by the associated Parameter Set, at the CL-points.</p>
      <p class="para_division">If a cycle is active, you will have defined at least one and as many as five Cycle Parameter Sets. The system sets the initial default parameter as Parameter Set - 1.</p>
      <p class="para_division">If you want your first set of selected points to use Parameter Set 1, you need not specify the Parameter Set. Select your first set of points by Generic Point or by Group.</p>
      <p class="para_division">When you want to change the Parameter Set for subsequent points, choose Cycle Parameter Set. Choose the desired parameter set and then specify the desired points.</p>

When no Cycle is active, the Select Points menu shows the default Parameter Set status as NONE. If you choose the Cycle Parameter Set option, the system displays the error message CYCLE NOT ACTIVE.</p>

      <p class="para_division">Display/Verify Parameter Sets in the Choose Cycle Parameter Set menu work the same way as the Display/Verify Parameter Sets in the Point-To-Point Geometry menu. Display allows you to display the points associated with each parameter set, and Verify enables you to verify the Cycle Parameter values for any of the five parameter sets.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Generic Point</div>
      <p class="para_division">Generic Point allows you to define associative or nonassociative CL-points through the use of the Point Constructor Subfunction menu. The Base Point XC, YC, and ZC coordinates for the point are displayed in reference to the WCS or Absolute Coordinate System and you can specify an Offset for the point. Refer to the Gateway Online Help documentation for details on how to use the Point Constructor Subfunction.</p>
      <p class="para_division">As each point is defined, a symbol (*) is displayed to indicate its location.</p>
      <p class="para_division">After you define all of the desired CL-points, choose OK. You may then change the Parameter Set and/or continue point selection, or you may choose End Of Selection and return to the Point-To-Point Geometry menu.</p>

      <div class="title_figure">Numbers Indicate Cut Order</div>
      <div class="title_division">Group</div>
      <p class="para_division">Group lets you select any previously grouped points and/or arcs. Use the screen cursor to select a group or enter the name of a previously named group.</p>
      <p class="para_division">The system selects all points in the group, as well as the center of all arcs in the group. For arcs, the system retains the arc axis as well as the arc center. You can control selection of points and/or arcs within the group using the Point/Arc Selectability option in the Specify Points menu.</p>
      <p class="para_division">You may select any number of groups. If there are no valid groups, the system displays the message NO VALID ENTITIES. If none of the entities in a group selected are points or arcs, the system displays NO POINTS IN GROUP.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Class Selection</div>
      <p class="para_division">Class Selection allows you to select geometry using the Class Selection subfunction.</p>
      <div class="title_division">All Holes On Face</div>
      <p class="para_division">All Holes On Face allows you to select the face and all complete, cylindrical holes on that face and within a specific diameter range. As stated, each hole must be a complete cylinder. If two holes are merged together, they are not two complete cylinders within themselves. Therefore, you can only select one hole. </p>
      <p class="para_division">You can specify a range diameter of the holes you wish to select by entering a Maximum Diameter or Minimum Diameter or both.</p>
      <p class="para_division">After you have entered the minimum and maximum diameter, select the corresponding face using the cursor. You can use the cursor to select a hole that is only partially on the selected face.</p>

These fields continue to display the last values entered regardless of the Cycle Parameter Set number displayed on the first line of this dialog box. In other words, changing the Cycle Parameter Set number will not change the displayed Minimum and Maximum Diameter values.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Predrill Points</div>
      <p class="para_division">Predrill Points allows you to retrieve engage points which were generated in previous Planar or Cavity Mill operations (see Pre-Drill in Planar and Cavity Milling) and stored in a temporary file. These points are used in Point-to-Point operations to position the tool for predrill holes which allow the tool to engage along the tool axis in subsequent milling operations without gouging the part.</p>

      <p class="para_division">When you select Predrill Points and then OK to accept, the predrill points stored in the temporary file are retrieved and display on the part as illustrated below.</p>

      <p class="para_division">Once you define the remaining Point-to-Point operation parameters and select Generate, the system uses these points to create the tool path as illustrated below.</p>

      <p class="para_division">The system deletes the accumulated Predrill Points from the temporary file after generating the tool path so that subsequent milling operations may accumulate a new set of points.</p>
      <p class="para_division">If there are no predrill points for retrieval, the system displays the error message NO POINTS TO PROCESS. If predrill points were previously retrieved, the system allows you to omit or to retain the existing points.</p>
      <p class="para_division">You should reorder the operations so that the Point-to-Point tool path which creates the predrill holes is executed before the corresponding milling operation.</p>

      <div class="title_division">End of Selection</div>
      <p class="para_division">End Of Selection causes the system to redisplay the Point To Point Geometry menu.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Selectability</div>
      <p class="para_division">Selectability allows you to control the selection of Points Only, Arcs Only, Holes Only, Points and Arcs, and All during selection by Group and Class as well as by single selection.</p>

            <p class="para_item">BOTH indicates that all the points and arcs which are members of subsequently selected groups, or which are selected by either Class Selection, Rectangle or Polygon method, are included in the Point to Point operation.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">PTS ONLY indicates that those points which are members of subsequently selected groups or which are selected by either Rectangle or Polygon method, are included in the Point to Point operation. Arcs are ignored.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">ARCS ONLY indicates that those arcs which are members of subsequently selected groups or which are selected by either Rectangle or Polygon method, are included in the Point to Point operation. Points are ignored.</p>
         </li>
      </ol>

      <p class="para_division">When you choose a point selection method, the system first checks to see if any points have been selected in an earlier session. If you have previously selected points in the Select or Append options, the system gives you the opportunity to keep or omit those points.</p>
      <ul>

            <p class="para_item">Yes indicates that the system is to omits previously selected points.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">No indicates that the system is to keep previously selected points and all subsequently selected points are appended to the existing set of points.</p>
         </li>
