It is through the Create Operation and Create Group dialogs that you create operations and groups (program, geometry, tool, and method) in your NC program. The four group creation dialogs enable you to create groups that define parameters shared among operations.

When creating a new group, you must specify the position of the new group in relation to existing groups by selecting (highlighting) a group in the Parent listing. The system creates the new group inside of the group highlighted in the parent listing. By doing this, the new group inherits the parameters of the selected group. The position of any group may be changed by cutting and pasting above, below, or inside of any other group in the Operation Navigator.

After specifying the name of the group, the group type, and the parent group, choose OK to display the group parameters dialog. This dialog enables you to specify the remaining parameters that are unique to this group.
