 in the Operating System.</p>

<h3>Loading an MDF</h3>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>An MDF supplied by NX also should be loaded into your

<h3>Installing</h3>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>If the terminal allows, set terminal characteristics

<h2><a NAME=run_mdfg></a>Running MDFG</h2>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>Use an Operating System command to start the MDFG. The
 type of Operating System you have determines the command you use.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>The MDF is not an executable program. It is a data file
 that is read by the Graphics Postprocessor Module (GPM) when it is executed.
 The MDF will reside in the current operating system directory.</p>

<h3>Start Up</h3>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>Enter the appropriate command. For example:</p>

<ul>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>mdfg<span style="font-style: italic;">
 (UNIX, Windows NT)</span></p></li>
</ul>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>Using Switches</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>&gt;mdfg -h (provide help on running mdfg)<br>
&gt;mdfg (start mdfg session: create/edit mdfa)<br>
&gt;mdfg millx[.mdf[a]] (start mdfg session: create/edit millx.mdf[a])<br>
&gt;mdfg -ou=mill_12.0[.mdfa] millx[.mdf[a]]<br>
(write current version mill_12.0.mdfa using millx.mdf[a])</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>The <span style="font-style: italic;">MDFG Version</span>
 menu asks whether you want to edit existing, create new MDF, or terminate.</p>

<ul>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Edit Existing MDF</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Create New MDF</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Terminate</p></li>
</ul>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Edit Existing MDF</span>
 - The system prompts you to enter the file specification of an existing
 MDF or MDFA.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph><span style="font-weight: bold;">Create New MDFA</span>
 - The system prompts you to enter the file specification for the MDFA
 you want to create.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>If the file specification does not include a path, the
 current directory is searched for the file. If the file is not found in
 the current directory, the directory defined by the environment variable
 UGII_MDF_DIR is searched. If the file is not found there, the directory
 defined by the environment variable UGII_UTIL is searched.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>The next menu requests units for input data.</p>

<ul>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>All Coordinate Data
 Is Inch</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>All Coordinate Data
 Is Metric</p></li>
</ul>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>This is the unit in which you want to enter data into
 the MDFG.</p>
