      <p class="para_topic">After naming the operation and defining the Tool, the Select Surface menu appears. This menu provides the Edge Tolerance, Stock, and Gouge Check Area options.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Edge Tolerance</div>
      <p class="para_division">Allows you to enter a value which determines the chordal tolerance the system uses to approximate the surface edge. Smaller tolerance values produce a more accurate approximation. When the system generates the cut boundary, it approximates the surface edge to within the input tolerance value.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Stock</div>
      <p class="para_division">Allows you to specify the least amount of material to be left on the workpiece around the surface edge (i.e., the boundary). Note that Floor Stock offsets stock around the entire surface. You must set the offset option under Offset/Gouge in the Zig-Zag Surface menu to On when you specify stock. This will cause the cutter to be offset from the edges a distance of the cutter radius. The stock value entered here is in addition to that offset.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Gouge Check Area</div>
      <p class="para_division">Gouge Check Area allows you to select All, None, or Local. This option uses a fast algorithm for tool positioning.</p>

                  <p class="para_warning_body">  You must enable Gouge Checking (using the Gouge/Avoid option under the Main Parameters menu), or else there will be no Gouge Checking regardless of how you set this option.</p>

      <p class="para_division">None - indicates that no areas of the surface you are to select should be checked for gouging.</p>
      <p class="para_division">All - indicates that all areas of the surface you are to select should be checked for gouging.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Local - limits gouge checking to cutter contact points within specific rectangular areas of the surface you are about to select. The processor checks for tool collision with all surfaces other than the one currently contacted, regardless of the Gouge Check Area method used. &nbsp;In other words, you can limit gouge checking if you wish, but the processor always checks for unintended contact with surrounding surfaces.</p>
      <p class="para_division">After selecting Local, and then the surface, you are prompted to select the gouge check area by using either a Percentage method or a Points method.</p>
      <ul>

            <p class="para_item">The Percentage method causes the U and V direction indicators to display. They indicate the relative direction of the U and V grid. You are prompted to enter the minimum percent and maximum percent of the U and V surface grid for gouge checking.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The Points method prompts you to indicate the area for gouge checking using the screen indicator. Generic Point allows you to use the Point Subfunction to specify the two corner points of a rectangle to define the area.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">After indicating the Local gouge check area, you are prompted to change the Selection Method, Add Another Area, or Display All Areas. You can define up to ten rectangular areas for Local Gouge Checking within each part surface.</p>
      <p class="para_division">After specifying the Edge Tolerance, Stock and/or Gouge Check Area values, select the surface, or solid face to be machined. If the selected surface, or solid face, has holes, the following menu displays. If the surface does not have any holes, the Zig-Zag Surface - Select Holes menu displays.</p>

      <p class="para_division">You can select the desired holes singly, using the screen cursor, or you can Select All of the holes.</p>
      <p class="para_division">When you select a hole using the screen cursor, the system applies the current tolerance and stock values to the selected hole only. The menu shown above redisplays allowing you to respecify the tolerance and/or stock values, if desired, and to select another (or the same) hole. After selecting all desired holes, press OK. The Modify Hole Selection menu displays. </p>
      <p class="para_division">Tolerance - allows you to enter a value which determines the chordal tolerance the system uses to approximate the hole boundary. Smaller tolerance values produce a more accurate approximation. When the system generates the cut boundary, it approximates the hole boundary to within the tolerance value in effect when you selected the hole.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Stock - allows you to specify the thickness of material to be left on the workpiece around the selected hole. You must set the offset option under Offset/Gouge in the Zig-Zag Surface menu to &quot;on&quot; to cause the cutter to be offset from the edges a distance of the cutter radius. The stock value entered here is in addition to that offset.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Select All - allows you to apply the current tolerance and stock values to all existing holes.</p>
