      </table><br><div class="title_division">Level-Based IPW</div>
      <p class="para_division">Level-Based IPW uses the 2D cut regions from the previous Cavity Milling and/or Zlevel operations to identify and machine rest material. These previous operations are referred to as reference operations. Level-Based IPW is limited to Cavity Milling or Zlevel milling operations with the same tool axis as the previous operation. The rest milling and reference operations must belong to the same geometry group. </p>
      <div class="title_division">Benefits of Using a Level-Based In-process Workpiece</div>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Level Based IPW efficiently cuts the corners and stair-steps left from previous operations.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Tool path processing time is noticeably shorter than 3D IPW for simple parts, and dramatically shorter for larger complex parts.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">You can use a big cutter with big depths of cut in one operation, and then use the same tool and a much smaller depth of cut in the following operation to clean out stair-steps. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The tool path is much cleaner than using the 3D IPW option.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">You can further automate by combining multiple roughing operations to rough and rest mill a given cavity. &nbsp;</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">You can also combine this option with the tool holder checking option so that shorter length tools (that are more rigid) can be used to cut to greater depths within a cavity. Then the longer length tool in the following operation only needs to cut along the walls where the shorter tool could not reach because of holder violation.       <div class="title_division">Using a Level Based IPW</div>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Set your Customer Defaults to enable Level Based IPW. Optionally, specify the directory to store the Level Based IPW information in a separate part file. If a separate part file isn't specified, this information is stored in the current part file.</p>
            <p class="para_item">For this default, navigate as follows: <b class="uiTerm">File</b>&rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Utilities</b>&rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b>&rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Manufacturing</b>&rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Geometry</b>&rarr; <b class="uiTerm">IPW</b>. This setting will take effect the next time you restart NX
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">To temporarily enable Level Based IPW for this session, set this option in preferences. For this preference, navigate as follows: <b class="uiTerm">Preferences</b>&rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Manufacturing</b>&rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Configuration</b>&rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Enable Level Based IPW</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If prompted, re-generate the tool path for the reference operation.</p>
            <p class="para_item">The following conditions must be met. The reference operation must:</p>
            <ul>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Be from the same geometry group as the level based operation.</p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Use the same tool axis.</p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Use a tool at least as big as the current operation.</p>
               </li>
            </ul>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In the cavity milling operation, go to the <b class="uiTerm">Containment</b> section of the <b class="uiTerm">Cutting Parameters</b> dialog and select the <b class="uiTerm">Use Level Based</b> IPW option.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">The reference tool selection is unavailable. &nbsp;The software automatically selects all qualifying Cavity Mill/ Zlevel operations as the reference operations.</p>
            <p class="para_item">The software computes the blank left by the reference operation and limits the current operation's tool path to that volume.</p>
         </li>
      </ol>

                  <p class="para_note_body">If the<b class="uiTerm"> Enable Level Based IPW</b> preference isn't on, you'll see a warning when you generate the toolpath. Select <b class="uiTerm">No</b> to turn on the preference and continue. If the required level based IPW information for the reference operations was generated and saved in an earlier session, the current operation will use the stored IPW. If not, you'll get an error message to regenerate the reference operations.
                  </p>
               </div>
