At this point you have created three operations: rough_ug_open_pocket, wall_ug_open_pocket, and floor_ug_open_pocket. Now you need to choose the tool for each operation.

Change the Operation Navigator back to the Method View and follow the steps below:

Edit the ROUGH_OPEN_POCKET_METHOD Group

Edit the FINISH_OPEN_POCKET_METHOD Group

These examples show a possible rule for selecting the tools. You can use the same tool for all operations. The radius of the tool needs to be equal to the minimum corner radius of the pocket. If the pocket has no corner radius, then the min/max box decides the diameter of the tool. The query should also search for tools whose flute length is long enough to cover the whole feature height.

There are several KF functions available to retrieve information from the feature such as the height, width, length, and corner radius. If the feature is an NX feature you can use the ug_oper_askFeatureAttributeValue() function to access the feature parameters. However, these parameters are not necessarily equivalent to the real dimensions once the feature is instantiated. Therefore, it's better to use other functions that retrieve the real dimensions of the modeled feature. These functions are described in the Knowledge Fusion section.

For the tool query in this case, we use two functions: ug_oper_askPocketCornerRadius() and ug_oper_askFaceMaxMin() if the pocket has no corner radius. To make if-then-else decisions for the tool query it's better to write a new function in the dfa file.

This function (ug_cam_tool_cr_dia_pocket() )asks for a possible corner radius and if it doesn't find it, it checks the minimum and maximum dimensions of the pocket and returns an appropriate value for the tool diameter.
