Infeed, Pullout

Infeed is the angle at which the tool moves to the depth of the pass. Pullout is the angle at which the tool is retracted from the thread. Tool movement stops at the Minimum Clearance Distance. The status of Infeed and Pullout toggle between Auto, Vector, and Angle.

If you specify Auto, the Infeed and Pullout angles are calculated by the system, based upon the thread angle, type of work (ID, OD, Facing), and position of the thread crest line (above or below the centerline). The resultant vectors are perpendicular to the thread vector.

For example, for OD threading above the centerline at 180 degrees, the default Infeed would be 270 degrees and the default Pullout angle would be 90 degrees. If you specify an angle for Infeed and Auto for the Pullout method, then the Pullout angle is the same as the Infeed angle (in the opposite direction).

If you set either of the two options to Vector, the system prompts you to specify an X and Y value of a vector that describes the desired direction of Infeed or Pullout.

You are also able to specify feed rates for the Infeed and Pullout moves. The system uses the Cut feed rate if you do not specify values for Infeed and Pullout.

Pullout Type toggles between Retract and Thread. This allows you to specify whether the pullout move is to be at the retract feed rate or in thread lead (as a thread motion).

For example, suppose you are machining an OD thread with a lead of .100, and engage feed rate of .030, and a retract feed rate of .080. If Pullout Type is set to RETRACT, then each threading pass (infeed, thread, pullout) would generate the following tool path sequence.
