<h1>MDFG Options</h1>

<h1>Machine Tool Type</h1>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>The <span style="font-weight: bold;">Machine Tool Type</span>
 option allows you to specify machine descriptive parameters depending
 upon the <span style="font-style: italic;">type</span> of machine you
 intend to use. You can specify one of the following machine types:</p>

<ul>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>2 Axis Lathe Or 4
 Axis Non-merging Lathe</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>4 Axis Merging Lathe</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Mill, 2 Or More Axis</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Punch</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>EDM, 2 Axis Or 4
 Axes</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Production Center
 (Lathe And Mill)</p></li>
</ul>

<ul>

	<li class=kadov-P-CCaution><p CLASS=Caution><span style="font-weight: bold;">CAUTION:</span>
 Since this option affects many subsequent options, you should first define
 the <span style="font-weight: bold;">Machine Tool Type</span> and then
 set other options.</p></li>
</ul>

<h1>Machine Tool Type Options</h1>

<h3><a NAME=lathe_mill_opts></a>For Non-merging Lathe and Mill Options</h3>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>The above non-merging <span style="font-weight: bold;">Lathe</span>
 and <span style="font-weight: bold;">Mill</span> options only define the
 machine type. You set no other parameters when you select these options.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<h3><a NAME=4_axis_lathe></a>4 Axis Merging Lathe</h3>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>When you select this option, you can specify how the
 GPM processes the OP Postprocessor commands to merge the data for both
 heads of a merging lathe. The SELECT/HEAD command determines which head
 is being referenced by the following CLSF data. The OP commands then define
 the sequence of processing CLSF data.</p>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>If the machine tool controller does not do the merging:</p>

<ul>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>The OP command sections
 the CLSF data.</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>The GPM processes
 the sections starting with the lowest OP number.</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>If two OPs have the
 same OP number and different SELECT/HEAD commands, then it becomes a <span
 style="font-style: italic;">merging</span> OP and the GPM reads both sections
 of the CLSF alternately to determine which head moves next.</p></li>
</ul>

<ul>

	<li class=kadov-P-CNote><p CLASS=Note><span style="font-weight: bold;">NOTE:</span>
 Refer to the GPM documentation for the OP command information.</p></li>
</ul>

<p CLASS=Paragraph>The three basic types of merging lathes are:</p>

<ol>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListNum><p CLASS=ListNum><span style="font-weight: bold;">Control
 Does Merging, G Or M Codes Define Merging, One Set Of Word Address Characters
 </span>- For this type of merging, the postprocessor processes all CL
 records in the sequence encountered. G or M codes assign the data to the
 primary or secondary head, control synchronization and designate the controlling
 head for spindle operations. Fanuc and most Japanese controls use this
 method of merging.</p></li>
</ol>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>You can specify whether synchronization codes are
 required. If so, then specify the Word Address format for the axis synchronization
 code; the initial synchronization code; the increment between synchronization
 codes; and whether the code is output with turret, spindle, and coolant.</p>

<ol START=2>

	<li class=kadov-P-CNote><p CLASS=Note><span style="font-weight: bold;">NOTE:</span>
 You cannot specify more than 100 operations in a CLSF.</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListNum><p CLASS=ListNum><span style="font-weight: bold;">Word
 Address Characters Determines Head To Be Referenced, Postprocessor Does
 Merging </span>- For this type of merging, the user programs SELECT/HEAD,
 (FRONT for instance) followed by OP/n,MAIN into the .CLS file. The minor
 word MAIN is required for merging and it indicates that this is the primary
 head or operation and controls spindle operations when this OP is merged.</p></li>
</ol>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>The postprocessor then sorts the OP's in ascending
 order. If the same OP number is assigned to both heads, that OP is a merging
 OP. The postprocessor assigns two sets of Word Address characters, one
 for each head. The control uses this to decide which head to use.</p>

<ul>

	<li class=kadov-P-CNote><p CLASS=Note><span style="font-weight: bold;">NOTE:</span>
 You must use an OP/nnn larger than any previously used at the end of the
 .CLS file to indicate the end of the file.</p></li>
</ul>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>Cincinnati Milacron, Jones &amp; Lamson, Warner
 Swasey and Allen Bradley are machine/controls that use this method.</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>After selecting this option, define the Word Address
 Formats for the following codes. Specify a format for both heads (e.g.,
 Front and Rear).</p>

<ol>

	<ul>

		<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>X And Z Dimensions
 For The Front And Rear Heads</p></li>

		<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Circle Center
 I And K Dimensions For The Front AndRear Heads</p></li>

		<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Thread Lead,
 Face And Turn Parameters For The Front And Rear Heads</p></li>

		<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Preparatory Function
 (G And H Codes) For The Front And Rear</p></li>

		<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Sequence Numbers
 For The Front And Rear Heads</p></li>

		<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Ipm, Ipr, And
 Frn Feedrate For The Front And Rear Heads</p></li>

		<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Thread Variable
 Lead For The Front And Rear Heads</p></li>

		<li class=kadov-p-CListBullet><p CLASS=ListBullet>Tool Code For
 The Front And Rear Heads</p></li>
	</ul>

	<li class=kadov-p-CListNum><p CLASS=ListNum><span style="font-weight: bold;">Sequence
 Number Character Determines Head To Reference, Postprocessor Does Merging
 </span>- This option is the same as the option, <span style="font-weight: bold;">Word
 Address Characters Determines Head To Be Referenced,</span> <span style="font-weight: bold;">Postprocessor
 Does Merging </span>except only the sequence number character determines
 which</p></li>

	<li class=kadov-P-CNote><p CLASS=Note><span style="font-weight: bold;">NOTE:
 </span>G&amp;L controls use this method.</p></li>
</ol>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>After selecting this option, define the Word Address
 formats for the following codes. Specify a format for both heads (e.g.,
 Front and Rear).</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt><span style="font-weight: bold;">Sequence Numbers
 For The Front And Rear Head</span></p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>After specifying one of those methods and setting
 its parameters, you can specify the <span style="font-weight: bold;">Miscellaneous
 Merging Parameter</span> options to output the G and M codes for the following
 Post commands:</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt
	style="margin-left: 40px;">OP/ON - Turn On Merging Mode</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt
	style="margin-left: 40px;">SELECT/HEAD,REAR - designates the heads.</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt>You can also specify whether:</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt
	style="margin-left: 40px;">the OP number is Output As a Synchronization
 M code.</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt
	style="margin-left: 40px;">to Reverse the Circular G Code for the Rear
 Head.</p>

<p CLASS=ListBulletTxt
	style="margin-left: 40px;">to Mirror the CL data About the Z axis For
 the Rear Head.</p>
