      <p class="para_topic">You can configure the number and type of steps taken in the simulation. After each step, the simulation recalculates all pertinent factors (e.g., collision checking, display). </p>
      <p class="para_topic">Open the <b class="uiTerm">Simulation Options</b> dialog using one of the following methods:
      </p>

            <p class="para_item">Right-click on the operation in the <b class="uiTerm">Operation Navigator</b>. 
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose <b class="uiTerm">Tool Path</b> &rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Simulate</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose <img align="bottom" src="graphics/sim_options.gif" border="0"> (<b class="uiTerm">Options</b>) on the <b class="uiTerm">Simulation Control Panel</b>. 
            </p>
         </li>
      </ol>

               <p class="para_td">If you activate <b class="uiTerm">Display</b>, you can designate whether the earth or the part is fixed in the graphics window. Fixing a specific object in the animation assists your visual inspection of the simulation by allowing you to view the operations from different perspectives.

               </p>

               <p class="para_td">Allows you to specify the size of buffer which stores the last recently simulated S&amp;V events. When stepping or replaying backward, the events are taken from this buffer until you start stepping or playing forward again, or until all stored events are read from the buffer. The buffer default value is 1000.</p>

               <p class="para_td">If active, the software creates and maintains an in-process workpiece (IPW). You can specify characteristics of the IPW in the options below.</p>
               <p class="para_td">If you activate the IPW for an operation that does not contain a blank, the software opens the <b class="uiTerm">Temporary Blank</b> dialog where you can specify a blank that is only valid while the <b class="uiTerm">Simulation Control Panel</b> is open. This blank does not appear in the graphics window; it is simply used as the basis for the construction of an IPW.
               </p>
            </td>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Resolution</b></p>
            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#F4F4F4" colspan="1" rowspan="1" valign="top">
               <p class="para_td">Specifies the quality of the graphics displayed in the graphics window. You can choose from:</p>
               <ul>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Fast</b> - generates a low resolution model of the IPW. The generation of the IPW is fast and requires little memory.
                     </p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Normal</b> - generates a medium resolution model of the IPW. The option requires more time and memory than <b class="uiTerm">Fast</b>.
                     </p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Fine</b> - generates a model of the IPW with the highest resolution. Generating this model takes the longest time and requires the most memory.
                     </p>
                  </li>
               </ul>
            </td>
         </tr>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Animation Accuracy</b></p>
            </td>

               <p class="para_td">Specifies the accuracy of the IPW during animation. You can choose from two options:</p>
               <ul>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Fine</b> - produces an accurate dynamic IPW during animation.
                     </p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Coarse</b> - the accuracy of the dynamic IPW is reduced during animation. This results in few facets to draw and, therefore, in greater performance. When the animation stops, the IPW is automatically redrawn using the fine resolution.
                     </p>
                  </li>
               </ul>
            </td>
         </tr>
         <tr>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Color</b></p>
            </td>

               <p class="para_td">Specifies the color for all subsequently created faceted bodies.</p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Translucency</b></p>
            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">Specifies the translucency, using a slider, of all faceted bodies created subsequently.</p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Save as Component</b></p>

               <p class="para_td">Saves the in-process workpiece during simulation as a faceted or solid body in a separate part file with its own reference set. You can specify the location for this file in the manufacturing preferences. The software only saves the component if you have activated <b class="uiTerm">Show 3D Material Removal</b> in the <b class="uiTerm">Simulation Control Panel</b>.
               </p>
            </td>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Max. Length Increment</b></p>
            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#F4F4F4" colspan="1" rowspan="1" valign="top">
               <p class="para_td">Affects density of points sampled for collision checking, or distance traveled between animation frames. As the length increment gets smaller, the simulation becomes more fine-grained. If you choose a large increment, the simulation moves more rapidly through the program, but leaves out detail. </p>

                           <p class="para_note_body">The software checks for collision at each increment. If you enter a large increment, the software will not perform as many collision checks as it does with a small increment.</p>

               <p class="para_td">The default value for this is 5 mm or 0.16 inches, depending on the units of your part.</p>

               <p class="para_td">This is similar to <b class="uiTerm">Max. Length Increment</b>, but used for rotary axes. The default value is 0.5 degrees.
               </p>
            </td>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Display by Time</b></p>
               <p class="para_td">Optional for the <b class="uiTerm">MTD</b> model, always on for the <b class="uiTerm">CSE</b> model.

               <p class="para_td">Bases the simulation display on time elapsed. This is useful in situations with multiple carriers. The <b class="uiTerm">Speed</b> slider on the <b class="uiTerm">Simulation Control Panel</b> controls how much time elapses between displayed animation frames based on the value set in the <b class="uiTerm">Max. Time Increment</b> field.
               </p>
            </td>
         </tr>

               <p class="para_td">Amount of time (measured in seconds) that elapses between animation frames, if you have chosen to display the animation by time.</p>
            </td>
         </tr>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Display Axes Coordinates</b></p>
            </td>

               <p class="para_td">Specifies which axes should be displayed in the <b class="uiTerm">Simulation Control Panel</b>.
               </p>
               <ul>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Tool ABC</b> - The XYZ are coordinates in the MCS. The ABC are measured as a displacement from the original positions of the axes. This is a combination of the other two options.
                     </p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Machine</b> - The XYZ and ABC values are measured as displacements from the original positions of the axes.
                     </p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Tool IJK</b> - The XYZ and IJK values are all specified as MCS coordinates and angles.
                     </p>
                  </li>
               </ul>
            </td>
         </tr>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Chordal Tolerance</b></p>
            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">The chordal tolerance refers to the distance between an arc and the chord between them. The smaller the chordal tolerance, the more steps will be taken in the simulation. &nbsp;The default value for this option is 0.1 mm or 0.01 inches, depending on the units of your part.</p>

               <p class="para_td">The software sends simulation Information to an information window during the simulation and you can then process the information as needed (for example, save it, e-mail it, or print it).</p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Stop on Limit Violation</b></p>

               <p class="para_td">The simulation checks limits as it progresses. If it finds a violation, it highlights any geometry corresponding to the axis violating the limit in a color that you set in the customer defaults.</p>
               <p class="para_td">If the geometry associated with the limit violation is also participating in a clearance violation, the limit violation highlighting takes preference.</p>
            </td>

               <p class="para_td">Stops the simulation when the history buffer is about to be purged. This allows you to examine previously simulated areas before they are &ldquo;forgotten&rdquo; or increase the size of the history buffer.</p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Cache NC Program</b></p>

               <p class="para_td">The simulation writes each line of the NC program to a file. Stepping backward and forward has no effect on this file. If you select <b class="uiTerm">Save NC Program</b> in the <b class="uiTerm">Simulation Control Panel</b>, the software saves this program to an output file; otherwise, it deletes the file when you close the <b class="uiTerm">Simulation Control Panel</b> or reset the dialog.
               </p>
