      </table><br><p class="para_topic">To apply the template subtypes to the sample file, follow the steps below:</p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Go to the directory folder ../mach/samples and open the part file cam_mill_feature_base_mm.prt or cam_mill_feature_base_in.prt. These parts contain machining features (NX features, UDFs, and already recognized features from unparameterized geometry).</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The setup for this sample part has already been completed. You can keep the current setup and skip to the  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mfgholemaking/fbmill_construct_proc.html');return(false);">Constructing Machining Feature Templates</a> section, or you can delete the setup in the part and continue with step three below.
            </p>
         </li>

            <p class="para_item">Enter the Manufacturing module. The system displays the Machining Environment dialog. From this dialog select your setup template. This can be either a library setup or the standard setup. For steps on selecting the library setup template go to section A below. For steps on selecting the standard setup template go to section B below.</p>

         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">From the Resource Bar, choose the Operation Navigator. The system displays the Operation Navigator with the Program Order View selected. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Pin the Operation Navigator so that it remains open when you move the cursor out of the navigator.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Change the view to the Geometry View and expand<b class="uiTerm"> MCS_MILL</b> to display <b class="uiTerm">WORKPIECE</b>.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">The Geometry View contains the following tree representation:</p>
            <p class="para_item">GEOMETRY</p>
            <p class="para_item">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;|_</p>
            <p class="para_item">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;NONE</p>
            <p class="para_item">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;|_</p>
            <p class="para_item">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;MCS</p>
            <p class="para_item">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;|_</p>
            <p class="para_item">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;WORKPIECE</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Double click WORKPIECE and select the solid body as the workpiece.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">From the main menu select Tools&rarr;Machining Feature Navigator.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In the Machining Feature Navigator select all features of Feature Type FACE and select the Create Geometry icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/ico_t_create_geometry.gif" border="0">. The feature-based milling subtypes valid for feature type FACE are represented for feature identification.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the FACE icon and set the parent group to WORKPIECE.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select Apply and the system performs the following:</p>
            <ul>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">displays the Information Window and reports the activity that is taking place. The Information Window shows you how many features of the respective type were found and how many groups have been created according to the different floor normals. </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">displays the FACE dialog with the feature type set to FACE.</p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Lists the feature classification criteria in the Classification Criteria field for feature grouping. (None)</p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">groups the features according to a rule based classification. FACE features with the same floor normal are grouped together. </p>
               </li>
            </ul>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Close the Information Window and click OK to exit the dialog.</p>
            <p class="para_item">In the Operation Navigator you should now see one FACE geometry group under the workpiece group. The FACE geometry group contains one operation and the selected tool for the operation.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the Generate icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/ico_t_generate_toolpath.gif" border="0"> to generate a tool path.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select Cancel from the Create Geometry dialog. The system returns to the Machining Feature Navigator. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Notice the Status and the Geometry Group columns in the Machining Feature Navigator.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the POCKET feature that has one floor and one wall (Step Pocket).</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">MB3 &rarr;Create Geometry opens the dialog for applying the STEP_POCKET_SINGLE or STEP_POCKET subtype. As the pocket is fairly small it can be cut with a single path. Choose STEP_POCKET_SINGLE.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">After viewing and closing the information window, select OK in the feature group dialog.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In the Operation Navigator you should now see one STEP_POCKET_SINGLE geometry group with one roughing operation and one finishing operation each for the wall and the floor.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the Generate icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/ico_t_generate_toolpath.gif" border="0"> to generate a tool path.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select Cancel from the Create Geometry Dialog and return to the Machining Feature Navigator.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the 2 features of Feature Type POCKET that have tapered walls.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the Create Geometry button. For features which have the same characteristics you want to apply the GENERAL_POCKET subtype.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">After viewing and closing the information window and selecting OK in the feature group dialog, you should see one GENERAL_POCKET feature group in the Operation Navigator. (Both features are within one group.)</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the Generate icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/ico_t_generate_toolpath.gif" border="0"> to generate a tool path. In this case it's all localized Cavity Milling because of the nature of the features.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select Cancel to return to the Manager. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Proceed with the remaining features.</p>
         </li>
      </ol>
