      <p class="para_division">There are three ways you can create machining features:</p>

      <p class="para_division"> <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mfgholemaking/mach_create_tag.html');return(false);">Tagging</a></p>
      <div class="title_division">Delete Machining Features</div>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the feature in the <b class="uiTerm">Machining Feature Navigator</b> palette or from the graphics window. 
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click <b class="uiTerm">Delete</b> on the palette or click MB3&rarr;Delete.
            </p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <div class="title_division">Override Attributes</div>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select a feature in the <b class="uiTerm">Machining Feature Navigator</b>. The software highlights the feature in the graphics field.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click the value field of each value you want to change for the selected feature. The input box appears after a short delay.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Enter the new value(s). The geometry does not update with the new values as the features' original values remain unchanged. However, the software will use the new value(s) for the CAM process.</p>
         </li>
      </ol>

                  <p class="para_note_body">At the current time, you can only change the values for one selected feature at a time. </p>

      <div class="title_division">Create Geometry Groups</div>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select <b class="uiTerm">Preferences&rarr;Manufacturing</b> to open the <b class="uiTerm">Manufacturing Preferences</b> dialog. Select the <b class="uiTerm">Geometry</b> tab if it is not in the foreground.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">On the <b class="uiTerm">Geometry</b> tab, select the <b class="uiTerm">Create Feature Groups</b> check box and click <b class="uiTerm">OK</b>. (The check box is selected by default)
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In the <b class="uiTerm">Machining Feature Navigator</b> palette, select the features for which you want to create a geometry group. This activates the <b class="uiTerm">Create Geometry</b> button.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click <img align="bottom" src="graphics/ico_t_create_geometry.gif" border="0"><b class="uiTerm">(Create Geometry)</b> to display the <b class="uiTerm">Create Geometry</b> dialog. 
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose the appropriate template type (holemaking or fbm).</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose the appropriate template subtype that matches the selected features (for example CB_HOLE for counterbore holes, POCKET for pocket features).</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Enter values into the <b class="uiTerm">Create Geometry </b>dialog and click <b class="uiTerm">OK</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <p class="para_division">The software groups the selected features into geometry groups if matched features are selected in both dialogs. For example, if you select two simple hole and one counterbore hole feature in the <b class="uiTerm">Machining Feature Navigator</b> palette, and then select a simple hole template in the <b class="uiTerm">Create Geometry </b>dialog, one simple hole group is created. The couterbore hole is not included in the group.
      </p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">When using the KF Rule to set the parent group, a new feature group can be placed under *any* geometry group that is under the tree of the parent specified in <b class="uiTerm">Create Geometry</b> dialog

      </table><a name="mach_feature_mach_use_feat_man_filter"></a><div class="title_division">Creating a Filter</div>
      <p class="para_division">Features listed in the <b class="uiTerm">Machining Feature Navigator</b> palette can be filtered in order to reduce the number of features displayed and thus enhance usability when doing feature work. 
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">To access the filter option click the <b class="uiTerm">Create Filter</b>  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/filter_create.gif" border="0">&nbsp;icon in the <b class="uiTerm">Machining Feature Navigator.</b> &nbsp; Select <img align="bottom" src="graphics/filter_apply.gif" border="0"> <b class="uiTerm">Apply Filter</b> if the Feature-Based Machining filter already exists.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">Currently there are two filter mechanisms in place; <b class="uiTerm">Common Attributes</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Feature Types</b>.
      </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The <b class="uiTerm">Feature Types</b> filter allows filtering per feature type and their parameters called feature attributes. Features are only populated in the <b class="uiTerm">Machining Feature Navigator </b> palette if the <b class="uiTerm">Feature Type</b> check box is selected. (If you clear the check boxes, features of this type will NOT be listed in the <b class="uiTerm">Machining Feature Navigator</b>.)  
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">To define a filter for attribute values: </p>
            <ol type="1" start="1">
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">select a feature type from the <b class="uiTerm">Feature Types</b> list and the set of attributes will become available in the drop-down menu at the end of the dialog.
                  </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Select any attribute and, dependent on the type (string, real), choose an operator and type in a value or a string to specify whether or not the feature should be listed in the <b class="uiTerm">Machining Feature Navigator</b>. Using the + sign adds the condition to the <b class="uiTerm">Filter Criteria</b> list. 
                  </p>
               </li>
            </ol>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Common Attributes filters are:</p>
            <ul class="hangingList">
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Status</b> &ndash; Features can be filtered by their machining status. Please refer to <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mfgholemaking/feat_stat_dia.html');return(false);">Feature Status</a> dialog for the status definition. The status can be:
                  </p>
                  <ul>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">None</b></p>
                     </li>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Generated</b> 
                        </p>
                     </li>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Incomplete</b></p>
                     </li>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Not Generated</b> 
                        </p>
                     </li>
                  </ul>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Overridden</b> &ndash; Allows filtering of features whose attribute(s) are overridden.
                  </p>
                  <ul>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Yes</b> &ndash; One or more attributes are overridden
                        </p>
                     </li>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">No</b> &ndash; No attributes are overridden 
                        </p>
                     </li>
                  </ul>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Direction</b> &mdash; filters hole features by their direction. Choose an option from the Vector Menu to specify a direction and add this condition to the<b class="uiTerm"> Filter Criteria</b> list by using the pipe (|) (or) button. The item in the list represents a vector direction relative to the absolute CSYS. The axis of each activated hole feature will be compared against this vector. A hole feature can either have one axis (blind hole) or two axes (through hole). If on of these axes is aligned to one of the specified vectors, the feature will be listed in the <b class="uiTerm">Machining Feature Navigator</b>.
                  </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Geometry</b> &mdash; specifies that only features with faces that are somehow connected to the specified geometry (faces or bodies) will be shown in the <b class="uiTerm">Machining Feature Navigator</b>. This allows you to explicitly narrow the scope of listed features to either the selected bodies or faces. If no geometry is specified, no filtering will occur and all features will be listed.
                  </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Number of Axes</b>&mdash; filters hole features by their amount of axis. Options are:
                  </p>
                  <ul>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Not Available</b> (Axis cannot be determined &ndash; Possibly not a hole feature)
                        </p>
                     </li>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">1</b> &ndash; Feature has one axis (Blind hole) 
                        </p>
                     </li>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">2</b> &ndash; Feature has two axis (Through hole). 
                        </p>
                     </li>
                  </ul>
               </li>
            </ul>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">Activate a filter by selecting the check box in front of each <b class="uiTerm">Common Attribute</b> filter type. Use the drop-down menu, operators and criteria to define a filter condition. Use the pipe (|) (or) sign to add any <b class="uiTerm">Common Attribute</b> filter condition to the <b class="uiTerm">Filter Criteria</b> list.
      </p>
