      <p class="para_topic">The engage and retract settings determine how the tool will approach and leave the workpiece. The software allows you to specify this for each type cut to ensure the safety of the tool and part. <b class="uiTerm">Engage</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Retract</b> options differ depending on whether you are performing a <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mfgturning/turning_turn_eng_ret_roughing.html');return(false);">Roughing</a> or  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mfgturning/turn_eng_ret_finishing.html');return(false);">Finishing</a> operation.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">Set engage or retract as follows:</p>

            <p class="para_item">In the <b class="uiTerm">Engage / Retract</b> dialog, select either the <b class="uiTerm">Engage</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Retract</b> tab, depending on your needs.

            <p class="para_item">Choose the appropriate engage or retract method.</p>
