      <p class="para_topic">The Engage/Retract Settings determine how the tool will approach and leave the workpiece. The software allows you to specify this for each cut to ensure the safety of the tool and part. The following options are available in the Engage/Retract Dialog:</p>

               <p class="para_th">Various Input Fields for vector values, angle, distance, radii and point selection</p>

               <p class="para_td">In these fields you may specify the various values required for the different Engage/Retract methods. These fields are only accessible for those methods to which they pertain. For all other methods, these fields are grayed out.</p>

               <p class="para_td">This gives you the option to shift (by the amount specified) the position of the target point of the engage or start point of the retract motion This option is only available when using a Profiling cut.</p>

                           <p class="para_note_body">Specifying a value that extends beyond the safe area around your in-process workpiece can result in gouging the part. NX does not apply collision or gouge  avoidance to the cutting move added by <b class="uiTerm">Extend Distance</b>.
