Run Time Options

The Run Time Options
menu is identical to the Post Parameters
menu in NX. This menu allows you to define the run time options indicating
where the punch and lineprinter listing are output and whether any error
messages should be output.

If the run time options are set in the MDF you do not
need to set the options in NX, but you can use the 'MDF' default.

You have the following options:

Punch Output
- This option punches the paper punch only, no file is created. Your options
are:

None - Suppresses
the Punched Output.

Create File
- Writes the output to a file. The default file specification is derived
from the input cls file specification after removing the extension.

A suffix may be added to the file name by specifying
a template which includes literals and variables. The default is no suffix.
GPM will replace the variables at run time. The following variables are
defined:

<MDFA>The mdfa name for this run.
<CLSF>The cls file name for this run.
<DAY> (See Initial Codes - Header Blocks on page <MONTH> 1-68
descriptions of <DAY> and the <IMONTH> following variables).
<YEAR>
<HOUR>
<MIN>

An extension to be added to the file name can be
specified. The default extension is ptp.

Example suffix template:

_<IMONTH>-<DAY>-<YEAR>

Using the above suffix template, test.mdfa and file
exam.cls results in a filename of exam_04-15-97.ptp being created at run
time.

NOTE:
There is a limit of 132 characters for the filename and 256 characters
for the full file specification.

Paper Tape Punch
- Punches the paper tape.

Listing Output
- This selection allows you to specify where you want the Listing Output
to go or if you want it suppressed.

None - Suppresses
the lineprinter output.

Create File
- Writes the output to a file. The same rules used for creating a punch
output file name apply for the listing output file name except that the
default extension is lpt instead of ptp.

Example suffix template:

_<MDFA>_fanuc

Using the above suffix template, test.mdfa and exam.cls
results in a filename of exam_test_fanuc.ltp being created at run time.

Lineprinter
- Sends the file to the system line printer.

Terminal
- Sends the output to the terminal device.

Error Message Terminal
- This option allows you to specify whether you want the error messages
displayed on the terminal or not.

Error Message Listing
- If you select Yes, the error
messages are listed at the system line printer output.

Units - This
option allows you to specify what units (i.e., MM or Inches) of measure
the CLF is created in and what units of measure the GPM is going to output
the MDF. The CURRENT STATUS shows the default for both input and output.

Listing Format
- This option allows you to specify which listing format, Packed
or Columns.

Packed -
Causes the postprocessor listing to be packed without column divisions.
Data is stored in less space. PACKED listing format is generally used
when the data is not needed immediately but must be archived.

Column -
Causes the postprocessor listing to be formatted into columns. Use this
option when reviewing the postprocessor output.

Commentary Data
- This option allows you to specify whether you want to output the commentary
data.

Edit Word Address Character Output Sequence

This option indicates the current order of output and
allows you to change that order. Both formatted and unformatted codes
are displayed.

You have the following options for changing the order
of output:

Exchange Order Of Two
Data Items - This option allows you to switch the positions of
two word address characters. Enter the Index numbers (order output position)
of the two data items to be switched.

Move One Data Item
- Enter the Index number of the data item to be moved. Then specify the
Index number of the target position. The selected data item is moved to
the specified position. The data item originally in the target position
and all data items between the data item to be moved and the target position,
are shifted one position.

Move Range Of Data
Items - Enter the Index number of the the start and the Index number
of the end of the range of the data items to be moved. Then specify the
Index number of the target position. The selected data items are moved
to the specified position. The data items originally in the target position
and all data items between the data item to be moved and the target position,
are shifted back the number of positions.

Previous Group Of Data
Items - Only 60 items can be displayed at once. This option is
used to display the previous group of 60.

Next Group Of Data
Items - Only 60 items can be displayed at once. This option is
used to display the next group of 60. The next and previous options can
be used to cycle through all of the possible output codes.

Inspect/Change Output
Items - This option can be used to display or change an individual
output code. You can select any one of the indices from the Edit Output
Sequence menu. Depending upon whether the output code is formatted or
unformatted, either the formatted or unformatted format menus will be
displayed. Refer to section 1-26 for a complete description of the menu
options.

Entry Complete - Selecting
Entry Complete redisplays the main Generate
MDF menu.
