      <div class="title_figure">Approach and Departure</div>
      <p class="para_topic">Defining Approaches and Departures is useful when you need to specify a feedrate and direction different from the Engages and Retracts. In the illustration above approaches and departures allow the tool to travel rapidly from one side of the part to the other while avoiding the part surface. Engage and retract moves use a slower feed rate and are kept to a minimum.</p>
      <p class="para_topic"><b class="uiTerm">Automatic</b> Clearance creates a clearance plane positioned at the <b class="uiTerm">Safe Clearance Distance</b> value above the highest point defined by the specified Part and Check geometry (including part stock and check stock). The safety distance is defined by the Safe Clearance (specified in the Cutting Parameters dialog box) plus the part offset Distance. If there is no Part geometry defined, then the position of the Automatic Clearance plane is referenced from the Drive Surface.

      <p class="para_division">Tool-axis orients the Approach or Departure vector along the tool axis.</p>

      <p class="para_division">The above figure illustrates approach and departure moves that are along a vector to a clearance cylinder.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Vector allows you to specify the Approach or Departure vector in any desired orientation using the Vector Subfunction.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Tool Axis</div>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Tool Axis</b> is only available for variable axis operations.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">No Change</b> makes the tool axis orientation at the beginning of approach moves the same as the tool axis orientation of engage moves. The tool axis orientation at the end of departure moves is the same as the tool axis orientation of retract moves.

      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Specify Tool Axis</b> uses the <b class="uiTerm">Vector Subfunction</b> to define the tool axis orientation.

      <p class="para_division">The above figure illustrates how the tool axis orientation at the beginning of the Approach Move is defined by the vector. Notice that the tool axis changes orientation during the Approach move, but not the Engage move. Tool Axis Control allows you to control the amount of change in tool axis orientation during the Approach.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Max Tool Axis Change</div>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Max Tool Axis Change</b> limits how much the tool axis orientation can change at each tool movement during the course of Approaches and Departures. If the tool axis would change more than the specified limit, the processor inserts intermediate tool positions. This option is only active in variable axis contouring.

      <div class="title_figure">Tool Axis Control for Approach Move</div>
      <p class="para_division">The above figure illustrates a tool axis orientation at the beginning of the approach move that is different from the tool axis orientation for the engage move. <b class="uiTerm">Max Tool Axis Change</b> allows the tool axis to gradually change its orientation as it moves along the approach.

      <div class="title_division">Post Commands at End / Post Commands at Start</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Post Commands at End (Start) button displays the Post Command dialog box, allowing you to specify post commands at the end of Approaches or at the start of Departures.</p>
