      <p class="para_topic">In the Contour Types menu you can define several classes of contour elements which are specially treated by the system. Which Contour Types may be defined is dependent upon which cut method you use:</p>

      </table><br><p class="para_topic">The Contour Types menu lets you specify characteristic contour situations such as represented by  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mfgturning/turn_mp_cont_tps.html');return(false);">Faces</a>,  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mfgturning/turn_mp_cont_tps.html');return(false);">Diameters</a>,  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mfgturning/turn_mp_cont_tps.html');return(false);">Steep areas or Level zones</a>. This classification accounts for tolerances in a way that you can define a minimum and maximum angle for each of the categories. These respective pairs of angles define a cone that filters all line segments with slope not larger than the maximum angle and not smaller than the minimum angle to be included in the respective contour class. Circular segments are similarly analyzed with respect to the tangent vectors at their start/end point.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">For face elements, the situation is shown below. Note, that also in this case both Min. Angle and Max. Angle are measured from the centerline. Here, a value of 70 for the faces' Min. Angle and 110 for their Max. Angle permits a maximum variation of 40 of the segments' slopes until they can no longer be included in the defining cone for faces.</p>

      </table><br><p class="para_topic">In the above example, a value of 160 for the diameters' Min. Angle and 200 for their Max. Angle would allow for a relatively large bandwidth of contour elements to be recognized as diameters.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">Level and steep zones are always tracked relative to the level or steep angle orientation specified for a roughing operation. This implies that the Min. Angle and Max. Angle values chosen for these are automatically measured from the line defined through Level Angle or Steep Angle. The following figure gives an example for the case of level zones recognized in a groove on the part's chamfer:</p>
