      </table><br><p class="para_topic"><img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/toolbars/vehicle_automation/die_engineering/pierce_task.gif" border="0"> The <b class="uiTerm">Pierce Task</b> command enables you to define the operation, size, shape and direction of the pierce equipment needed to make holes in the sheet metal. 
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">A pierce is a hole in the interior of the sheet metal that is manufactured using conventional pierce equipment. By contrast, large interior cutouts and trims along the outside of the sheet metal are manufactured using trim steels. Use the <b class="uiTerm">Trim Task</b> command to define these manufacturing operations. 
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">For a given CAM direction in the operation, you can specify all pierces based on that direction in a single pierce task. To use this option, you must have at least one of the following features in the operation: DIE_FORM_TASK, DIE_CARRYOVER, DIE_AREA_FILL, and/or a DIE_FLANGE_TASK.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">The output of this command is a pierce task feature that has a curve representing the shape of the punch. A DIE_OUTPUT feature is also created, which represents the part in its trimmed state. You can specify that the pierce on a flange is to occur with the flange in the laid out position. In this case, the software automatically calculates the position by extending in the direction of the tangent of the product face, with distance equal to the flange length.</p>
