Overview

Certification Points are very similar to measurement points except they are used to validate surface conformity and the location of tooling components, including NC blocks and checking rails. Certification data feature sets consist of points, vectors, names and attributes. The certification point typically lies on the part face and the vector direction is normal to that face. MPAW supports two types of certification point feature sets: Automatic and Manual.

Automatic

These points are created by offsetting the input curves or edges that represent the boundary of the NC block. The offset distance is determined by the parameters specified in the Certification Point dialog. These certification points are associated to a datum point. The Automatic mode works only on closed boundaries and creates five certification points, one at each corner and one on the specified DLF.

Manual

These points are created along an offset edge or on an existing curve spaced at a distance, according to the parameters you specify in the Certification Point dialog. You have the choice of specifying spacing or number of points. Since the datum point is not input in this method, there is no association with a datum point.

Certification points are grouped by the feature set they are created in. The points within this feature set can be ordered and this order displayed upon request. The display is a temporary path connecting the certification points.

Certification data is created in the work part where the datum point information is available either in the current part or as an occurrence.
