      <div class="title_division">Overview</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Hem Vector functionality provides a method to create measurement points along a folded over or hemmed edge. This type of condition is common in sheet metal buildups. These points are typically specified in series to indicate the profile of a virtual edge. You need to:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify a cross section roughly perpendicular to the edge</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Identify the point's location along the section curves</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Indicate the desired vector direction</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <div class="title_division">Accessing</div>
      <p class="para_division">To access the Hem Vector dialog in the Insert mode, do one of the following:</p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">On the MPAW toolbar, choose the Hem Vector icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_hem_icon.gif" border="0">.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">On the menu bar, choose Tools-&rarr;Process Aid-&rarr;Hem Vector.</p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <p class="para_division">The Hem Vector dialog appears.</p>

When the Hem Vector dialog opens in the Insert mode, only the Face selection icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_hem_face.gif" border="0"> appears sensitive. The Plane selection icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_hem_plane.gif" border="0"> appears sensitive only after you select a face. The Curve selection icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_hem_curve.gif" border="0"> is sensitive only in the Edit mode, and in case of multiple section curves.
               </p>

               <p class="para_td">In the Insert mode, the hem vector is created in the default direction, Along Plane; the other icons appear grayed out.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Enter a name for the vector. This field appears grayed out till you select a face and the plane in the Insert mode. In the Edit mode, this field appears sensitive and displays the name of the vector.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Click to reverse the vector direction. This button is sensitive only for sheet bodies in the Insert and Edit modes; and for solid bodies only in the Edit mode if the X, Y or Z direction has been chosen earlier.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Use these toggles in the Insert or Edit mode to set the vector at the selected snap location.</p>
               <p class="para_td"><img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_hem_min.gif" border="0">: Places the vector at the minimum absolute X/Y/Z coordinates. This option is sensitive if the selected direction is X, Y or Z.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_hem_max.gif" border="0">: Places the vector at the maximum absolute X/Y/Z coordinates. This option is sensitive if the selected direction is X, Y or Z.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_hem_other.gif" border="0">: Sets the vector at the location specified by the Percentage along Hem Edge scale. This option is sensitive for all the directions (X, Y. Z and Other) selected.
               </p>

               <p class="para_td">Use this scale to specify the percentage of the selected curve at which the hem vector is to be inserted.</p>

               <p class="para_td">In the Edit mode, enter the exact distance on the curve from the end at which the hem vector is to be created. This works in coordination with Percentage Along Curve, and displays the exact value as and when you scroll the Percentage Along Curve scale.</p>

               <p class="para_td">The Non-Associative toggle appears sensitive only if at least one measurement vector already exists in the part. Turn this toggle ON to create measurement vectors independent of geometry. After you turn this toggle ON, the Point Constructor icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/dlf_ptcons_icon.gif" border="0"> and the Specify Vector Direction button appear sensitive. Clicking the Point Constructor icon opens the Point Constructor dialog that you can use to specify the point coordinates for the measurement vector.
               </p>

               <p class="para_td">Click to open the Specify Relationship dialog. This button is sensitive in the Insert mode only when at least one measurement vector already exists in the part, and is always sensitive in the Edit mode. Using the Specify Relationship dialog you can select multiple measurement vectors and specify the relationship type from the option menu. You can choose from three types of relationships:</p>
               <p class="para_td"><img align="bottom" src="graphics/dlf_flush.gif" border="0"> Maintains a flush relationship among vectors. MPAW makes no attempt to verify the flush condition.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/dlf_gap.gif" border="0"> Maintains a gap relationship among vectors. MPAW makes no attempt to verify the gap condition.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/dlf_ns.gif" border="0"> Maintains a non-specific relationship.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">You can break the relationship by choosing  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/dlf_nr.gif" border="0">.
               </p>
            </td>

      </table><br><div class="title_division">Inserting</div>
      <p class="para_division">To use the Hem Vector function:</p>
      <p class="para_division">When the Hem Vector dialog appears, you are cued to select a face. Initially, all the buttons on the Hem Vector dialog, except  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_trim_canc.gif" border="0"> and the Face selection icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_hem_face.gif" border="0">, appear grayed out.
      </p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select a face. Once the face is selected, the Plane Selection icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_hem_plane.gif" border="0"> becomes sensitive. You are prompted to select either the Plane Selection icon or another face.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the Plane Selection icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_hem_plane.gif" border="0">. The Datum Plane dialog appears.
            </p>
            <p align="center"><img align="bottom" src="graphics/dlf_pl_sel.gif"></p>
            <p class="para_item">You can select an existing datum plane or choose the Plane Sub function button to select an existing plane or create a new datum plane. Clicking  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/dlf_plsel_pt.gif" border="0"> opens the Plane Constructor dialog, and you are cued to choose a plane definition option.
            </p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">On the Plane Constructor dialog, choose a plane definition option for the plane. Once you have selected a plane, the OK button in the Plane Definition dialog becomes sensitive. Click  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/ok.gif" border="0"> to complete the plane selection and return to the Hem Vector dialog. On the Hem Vector dialog, the Section Name and Name fields and the Characteristics button now appear sensitive.
            </p>

                        <p class="para_note_body"> NOTE: Initially, the OK button on the Plane Constructor dialog appears insensitive while Back and Cancel appear sensitive. Clicking the Back button returns you to the Hem Vector dialog without retaining any inputs. Clicking Cancel closes the Plane Constructor dialog without retaining any inputs, and also exits the Hem Vector dialog.</p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Enter names for the hem vector and section plane. You can enter a maximum of 20 characters in each field.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the snap location for the hem vector.</p>
            <p class="para_item">Minimum: This option is sensitive if the selected direction is X, Y or Z. Select this radio button to place the vector at the minimum absolute X/Y/Z coordinates.</p>
            <p class="para_item">Maximum: This option is sensitive if the selected direction is X, Y or Z. Select this radio button to place the vector at the maximum absolute X/Y/Z coordinates.</p>
            <p class="para_item">Other: This radio button is sensitive for all the directions (X, Y. Z and Other) selected. It sets the vector at the location specified by the Percentage along Hem Edge scale.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In case of sheet body, you can flip the vector direction using  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_hem_flip.gif" border="0">, if required.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">if required, specify the following for the hem vector: non-associativity and vector direction, and relationship.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If required, choose  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/dlf_dia_ch.gif" border="0">. The  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mpaw/ref_dat_char.html');return(false);">Datum Characteristics</a> dialog appears. Modify characteristics as required and choose OK or Apply. You are returned to the Hem Vector dialog.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">On the Hem Vector dialog, choose  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/ok.gif" border="0"> or  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/apply.gif" border="0"> to insert the vector.
            </p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <p class="para_division">The hem vector is inserted.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Choosing  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/ok.gif" border="0"> creates the vector and closes the dialog. Clicking  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/apply.gif" border="0"> performs the same function but clears the dialog of all inputs, and keeps it on screen. Clicking  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_trim_canc.gif" border="0"> closes the dialog without retaining any inputs.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Editing</div>
      <p class="para_division">To edit the hem vector:</p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">On the menu bar, choose Edit-&rarr;Feature-&rarr;Parameters. The Edit Parameters dialog appears.</p>
            <p class="para_item">In the Edit Parameters dialog, choose the hem vector you want to edit.</p>
            <p class="para_item">OR</p>
            <p class="para_item">Click the Model Navigator icon on the standard NX toolbar. The Model Navigator dialog appears.</p>
            <p class="para_item">On the Model Navigator dialog, choose the hem vector you want to edit.</p>
            <p class="para_item">The Hem Vector dialog appears, displaying the values selected or entered while creating the hem vector.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">All the parameters entered when in the Insert mode can be edited. Also note that the section curve on which the hem vector is placed is now visible in the graphics window. You can modify the location of the vector along this curve either by moving the Percentage along Hem Edge scale or by entering the distance of the vector from the edge in the Delta Distance field.</p>
