               <p class="para_td">Selection Steps</p>

               <p class="para_td">These selection steps allow you to select vectors and points to utilize in measuring angles and distances.</p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/defn_prodornt_from_vectr.gif" border="0">From Vector - Lets you select a reference vector. This vector is used as the starting vector in measuring an angle between the selected vectors. Upon selection you will automatically progress to the To Vector step.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/defn_prodornt_to_vectr.gif" border="0">To Vector - Lets you select a target vector. This vector is used as the ending vector in measuring an angle between the selected vectors. Upon selection of this vector the angle will be calculated. The angle is measured between the from-vector and the to-vector, about the current axis direction. The calculated angle is added to the current angle setting. Both vectors are removed from the selection step at this time, and the From Vector step becomes the active step.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/defn_prodornt_from_point.gif" border="0">From Point - Lets you select a reference point. This point is used as the starting point to measure a distance between the selected points. Use the Snap Point tool to select a point. Upon selection you will automatically progress to the To Point step.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/defn_prodornt_to_point.gif" border="0">To Point - Lets you select a target point. This point is used as the end point in measuring a distance to move the product. Use the Snap Point tool to select a point. Upon selection of this point the distance will be calculated. The distance is measured between the from-point and the to-point, along the current axis direction. The distance is added to the current translation setting. Both points are removed from the selection step at this time, and the From Point step becomes the active step.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">If a From Point was not selected and a point is selected for this step, then the current product center is moved to this point along the current axis direction. The point is removed from the selection step at this time, and the To Step remains the active step.</p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/defn_prodornt_trim_prfl.gif" border="0">Trim Profile - Lets you select edges on the product. These edges are analyzed for trim angle or wall angle variances to press direction and feedback displayed when requested. By default the exterior edges of the product are selected.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/prod_csys.gif" border="0">Product CSYS - Lets you select a CSYS in product position. Upon selection, the tip step definition that would place this CSYS in the center of the die is determined and utilized.

               <p class="para_td">Angle/Distance</p>
            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">The scale slider option lets you control the angle or distance that the product is moved for the active tip step. You can also key in a given angle or delta distance.</p>
               <p class="para_td">The Angle slider is available for active tip steps after the first. These tips are always rotational steps. The limits of the angle scale are -180 to +180 degrees.</p>
               <p class="para_td">The Distance slider is available when the translation tip step is active and always the first step. The limits on the distance scale are controlled by the customer default Translation Range. When the translation scale movement is terminated, it is reset to the center of the scale.</p>

               <p class="para_td">This option menu lets you choose the current axis direction that will be used when rotating or translating the product data in the die. The available settings are X, Y, Z, -X, -Y, and -Z.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Tip Definition Steps</p>

               <p class="para_td">This list box shows all of the currently defined tip steps. As you create new tip steps they are added to this list. You can choose tip steps in the list box to perform edits using other options on this dialog on this active tip step. The text (Parent) or (Child) is appended to this label, and indicates whether the tip definition has been inherited from another DIE_TIP feature.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Reason Option Menu</p>

            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">This option menu contains a standard list of reasons that can be chosen to populate the reason text window. As the option menu is chosen the text is added as a new line to the reason text window. This list of options is defined by the customer default Reasons. If no definition exists then this option menu is not displayed.</p>

               <p class="para_td">New, Cut, Copy, Paste, Copy Existing, Define Optimal, Define View</p>

               <p class="para_td">Use the New, Cut, Copy and Paste basic controls to add a new tip step, remove a tip step, and copy/paste a tip step. The operation of these basic controls follows standard guidelines.</p>
               <p class="para_td">There are also the following advanced controls: </p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/copy_existing_ico.gif" border="0">Copy Existing - Lets you copy a tip definition from an already existing Die Tip feature.                </p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/define_optimal_ico.gif" border="0">Define Optimal - Lets you supply control parameters and then calculate the optimal tip direction. If the operation the tip is being defined for has the text &quot;Trim&quot; in its description then the optimal tip for a trim will be defined (see  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('dieengr/optimal_tip_trim.html');return(false);">Optimal Tip - Trim</a> for details). If the operation the tip is being defined for does not have the text &quot;Trim&quot; in its description, an optimal tip for a forming operation will be defined (see  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('dieengr/optimal_tip_form.html');return(false);">Optimal Tip - Form</a> for details). 
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/define_view_ico.gif" border="0">Define View - Lets you define the tip steps based on the current die view orientation. Rotate the view of the tipped product until it is in the desired orientation. When you select this option, the tip steps that would put the tipped product into the die so that the current view normal is the z direction are calculated.

               <p class="para_td">Displays a color coded image to allow you to visually see backdraft conditions. Default colors have been established whereby those portions of the product part that are open to the press direction are shaded green and those portions of the product that are not open to the press direction are shaded red. Turning this option on enables the Visualization Options. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

               <p class="para_td">Compute Trim/Wall Angle</p>

               <p class="para_td">This option menu lets you turn on computation of Trim Angles and Wall Angles for selected product edges. As the product orientation is changed, lines are displayed that show the relative magnitude of the angle to the press direction. If the angle is less than the acceptable value, an asterisk is shown; if between the low value and next value the line is displayed in the warning color; if higher than the high value the line is displayed in the failure color. The limits for the angles are defined with the customer defaults Up Angles, Down Angles, and Maximum Angles.</p>
