      </table><br><p class="para_topic"><img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/toolbars/vehicle_automation/die_engineering/dfm_advisor.gif" border="0"> The <b class="uiTerm">DFM Advisor</b> (Design for Manufacturing) lets you to check if it is possible to manufacture a design before any manufacturing tasks are performed on it. You can use the <b class="uiTerm">DFM Advisor</b> to check a design to determine if it meets corporate manufacturing standards. There are 33 different manufacturing <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('dieengr/dfm_dialog.html');return(false);">criteria</a> that are analyzed in the <b class="uiTerm">Draw</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Trim</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Pierce</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Flange</b> categories.
      </p>

      </table><br><p class="para_topic">The early detection of manufacturing problems can help reduce the number of engineering changes triggered by downstream processes. It also allows design alternatives to be rapidly evaluated and enables the design to be stabilized sooner. You can execute the <b class="uiTerm">DFM Advisor</b> at any stage of the product design. However, you must minimally define the die process plan for the part before you can execute the Advisor. You do this by creating a Die Lineup using the tools available in Die Engineering.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic"><b class="uiTerm">DFM Advisor</b> reports any nonconformances (DFM features that do not adhere to manufacturing standards) and highlights the area in the graphics window where the deviation is found. The designer can then correct the offending feature by altering the design, or indicate through comments that the nonconformance is to be tolerated with no further part changes.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">You can save the results from a previous execution of the Advisor in the part file (using the <b class="uiTerm">Save Results</b> option in the <b class="uiTerm">Nonconformance</b> dialog box), thus allowing the manufacturing status of the part to be easily reviewed by other engineers who may be assigned to the project. In this way, design intent is maintained and communicated from one person to the next.

                  <p class="para_note_body">  This documentation often makes reference to DFM Features. A feature in this context is not the same as features you may create in NX. A DFM Feature is any geometric shape in your panel that can be classified as Trim, Pierce, or Flange objects. The Advisor detects these features by interrogating the geometric shape of the panel, not by traversing any NX feature tree. (You should also be aware that is quite possible for the Advisor to classify an NX Flange feature as a DFM Flange feature.)</p>
