      <p class="para_division">When flanging occurs after a pierce, the flange tangency curve to hole distance must be greater than the minimum value for this criteria. If flanging is occurring at the same time or before a pierce, then the  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('dieengr/dfm_hole_to_wall.html');return(false);">Hole to Wall </a>criteria is used and this criteria check is ignored.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Purpose</div>
      <p class="para_division">To determine if flanging can be accomplished with standard equipment, or if hole distortion is expected from flanging too close to a pierce shape.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Computational Method</div>
      <p class="para_division">The minimum acceptable distance for this check is the larger of Standard Distance or Thickness Multiple x metal thickness. This value is used to determine if a nonconformance will be reported.</p>
      <p class="para_division">To find the flange to hole distance, the three dimensional distance from the pierce shape to the nearest flange is measured. If this value is less then the minimum allowed, a nonconformance is reported. See the picture below for an illustration of this measurement.</p>

      <p class="para_division">To magnify the measurement for illustration purposes, a thickness of 5mm was used and the multiple_thickness factor was 6. Therefore a deviation occurs because the distance of 25.08 mm is less than 30 (5mm x 6)mm.</p>
