The Die Area Fill option allows you to fill these areas with sheet bodies. The output of this function is a DIE_AREA_FILL feature, which is represented by a trimmed sheet body. You normally use this option after creating a DIE_TIP feature with the Die Tip option.

You can supply the shape of the fill area in one of the following ways:

The method used to fill void areas of the part body is to match the state of the sheet metal during forming. With Die Area Fill you must supply the shape of the filled area by selecting an existing sheet body or by supplying the outline of the void area to be filled. You can optionally specify the boundary of the fill area by selecting one or more curves that outline the region.

Since void areas on the product part are often created by trimming large slab surfaces, you can extract the face of the trimmed body and use the resulting sheet body as the fill shape. Then you can use the outline of the trim boundary as the fill boundary. If you want the system to automatically create a surface to fill the void area, you can simply indicate the outline of the void area to be filled and on clicking Apply, a through curve mesh surface is created. (Note a through curve mesh feature is not created.)
