Clicking OK or APPLY from the Module Re-Parenting dialog causes NX to evaluate and determine if the feature is a basic UDF or has module data. If it is a basic UDF, then the UDF is instantiated in the work part. If module information exists, then the Module Reconnect Data dialog is opened.

The Module Reconnect Data dialog lets you specify how the module should be placed into the work part. The output is the full specification of what operations to perform to add the module to the work part. This includes the naming rules to be applied. If the module is a NX UDF, then the Module Reconnect dialog is unavailable.

When adding a module you have several options for how the part may be positioned and what occurs when the part is added to the assembly. The "Reference Set" customer default is used as the Reference Set name during the addition of the module to the work part. If the Reference Set name does not exist in the module, then the Entire Part reference set is used.

Mating Conditions may only be applied if there is no WAVE Linked geometry that must be re-parented. Choosing the Mating Conditions option provides the ability to create mating criteria for the module. If not chosen, then the module is placed at absolute zero.

When you first create the module you have the ability to specify objects in the module that can be WAVE linked or exported to specified assembly part files. Linking/Export Options allow you to specify how the defined objects should be exported into the assembly part files of choice (to be done at a later step). This option is only available if the creator of the module has specified objects that can be exported. Options are "None", "Copy", "WAVE Link", "WAVE Link: Non-Associative". If any Option other than "None" is chosen, then a list of "Link/Export Targets" will be available to specify the location of the link/export objects. The module creator specifies these "target prompt(s)" during creation of the module. By selecting a target prompt, the desired component may then be selected from the NX graphics display or the Assembly Navigation window for the chosen prompt.

When the part files of the module are added to the current work part, you have the option to make copies of the module part files. This is controlled by a naming convention. All part files in the module that start with a given Prefix and end with a given Suffix (.prt is not included) are copied. The Copy Module Part Files with options let you specify how part files in the module should be renamed when copied. The Prefix of the module is displayed. The New Prefix supplied must be the same or less number of characters. The Suffix supplied must be the same or less number of characters also. If the New Suffix ends with a numeric, then if the process is duplicated with the same module part files the New Suffix will be incremented. For Example: If the Suffix is "_YY", and you enter "_01" for New Suffix and APPLY, then during the next instantiation, the default for the New Suffix when the dialog is initiated will be "_02". If this were to continue 9 more times, then New Suffix would be "_11".
