      <p class="para_topic">The Hole/Slot/Stud Vector function allows you to specify measurement points that fall in a hole, slot or on a stud. This function makes no attempt to analyze the geometry and optimize placement. You can control the point's location and vector direction.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Accessing</div>
      <p class="para_division">To access the Hole/Slot/Stud Vector dialog in the insert mode, do one of the following:</p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">On the MPAW toolbar, choose the Hole/Slot/Stud Vector icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_hss_icon.gif" border="0">.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">On the menu bar, choose Tools-&rarr;Process Aid-&rarr;Hole/Slot/Stud Vector.</p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <p class="para_division">&nbsp;The Hole/Slot/Stud Vector dialog appears.</p>

               <p class="para_td">The Non-Associative toggle appears sensitive only if at least one measurement vector already exists in the part. Turn this toggle ON to create measurement vectors independent of geometry. After you turn this toggle ON, the Point Constructor icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/dlf_ptcons_icon.gif" border="0"> and the Specify Vector Direction button appear sensitive. Clicking the Point Constructor icon opens the Point Constructor dialog that you can use to specify the point coordinates for the measurement vector.
               </p>

               <p class="para_td">Click to open the Specify Relationship dialog. This button is sensitive in the Insert mode only when at least one measurement vector already exists in the part, and is always sensitive in the Edit mode. Using the Specify Relationship dialog you can select multiple measurement vectors and specify the relationship type from the option menu. You can choose from three types of relationships:</p>
               <p class="para_td"><img align="bottom" src="graphics/dlf_flush.gif" border="0"> Maintains a flush relationship among vectors. MPAW makes no attempt to verify the flush condition.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/dlf_gap.gif" border="0"> Maintains a gap relationship among vectors. MPAW makes no attempt to verify the gap condition.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/dlf_ns.gif" border="0"> Maintains a non-specific relationship.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">You can break the relationship by choosing  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/dlf_nr.gif" border="0">.
               </p>

      </table><br><div class="title_division">Inserting</div>
      <p class="para_division">To insert a Hole/Slot/Stud Vector:</p>
      <p class="para_division">When the Hole/Slot/Stud Vector dialog appears, you are cued to select a hole, slot, edge or stud. But for Type and  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_trim_canc.gif" border="0">, all the fields and buttons on the Hole/Slot/Stud Vector dialog initially appear grayed out.
      </p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select an edge. If the edge belongs to a sheet body, you are cued to choose the vector direction. The Vector Direction button appears enabled. If the selected edge belongs to a solid body, a dummy vector is displayed along the hole/slot/stud axis. You can select only one edge. Selecting a second edge clears the first selection. Selecting one of the edges of a slot highlights all the edges and displays the hole or slot vector. If MPAW is unable to find all the closed edges automatically, you are cued to select edges.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/dlf_dia_svdir.gif" border="0">. The Vector Constructor dialog appears. (For help on the Vector Constructor dialog, see Gateway-&rarr;Common Tools-&rarr;Vector Constructor.) The Edge/Curve Vector button appears depressed. You are cued to &quot;Specify a vector. Select an edge or curve&quot;. The edge selected in the above step remains highlighted. The status bar says: Edge. You can perform one of the following steps:
            </p>
            <ul>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Choose another vector option button on the Vector Constructor dialog</p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Select another edge/curve</p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Click  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/ok.gif" border="0"> to proceed, in which case the vector is created along the axis of the edge selected in step 1.
                  </p>
               </li>
            </ul>

                        <p class="para_note_body">Clicking  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_trim_canc.gif" border="0"> on the Vector Constructor dialog closes the Hole/Slot/Stud Vector dialog without accepting any inputs. Clicking the Back button returns you to the Hole/Slot/Stud Vector dialog without retaining any inputs.
                        </p>

         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">On the Vector Constructor dialog, choose  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/ok.gif" border="0">. You are returned to the Hole/Slot/Stud Vector dialog, and cued to modify options. You can also choose OK or Apply to complete vector creation. In case of a sheet body, a dummy vector is displayed.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">On the Hole/Slot/Stud Vector dialog, the Name field now appears enabled. Enter a name for the hole/slot/stud vector. You can enter a maximum of 20 characters.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If required, you can choose  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_hss_flip.gif" border="0"> button to reverse the direction of the vector.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If required, enter the Offset Distance. The hole/slot/stud vector location moves along the specified vector from the hole centroid depending upon the offset value entered.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If required, choose  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/mpt_hss_ch.gif" border="0">. The  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mpaw/ref_dat_char.html');return(false);">Datum Characteristics</a> dialog appears. Modify characteristics as required, and choose OK or Apply. You are returned to the Hole/Slot/Stud Vector dialog.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">On the Hole/Slot/Stud Vector dialog, choose  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/ok.gif" border="0"> or  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/apply.gif" border="0"> to create the vector.
            </p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <p class="para_division">The hole/slot/stud vector is inserted.</p>
      <p class="para_division">A hole or stud vector is created at the axis of the hole or stud face, and a slot vector is created at the mid-point of the line that joins the axes of the circular faces of the slot.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Choosing OK creates the vector and closes the dialog. Choosing Apply performs the same function as choosing OK but clears the dialog of all inputs, and keeps the dialog on the screen ready for you to select geometry for the next hole/slot/stud vector. Clicking Cancel closes the dialog without retaining any inputs.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Editing</div>
      <p class="para_division">To edit the Hole/Slot/Stud Vector:</p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">On the menu bar, choose Edit-&rarr;Feature-&rarr;Parameters. The Edit Parameters dialog appears. Select the hole/slot/stud vector you want to edit.</p>
            <p class="para_item">OR</p>
            <p class="para_item">Click the Model Navigator icon on the standard NX toolbar. The Model Navigator dialog appears. On the Model Navigator dialog, select the hole/slot/stud vector you want to edit.</p>
            <p class="para_item">The Hole/Slot/Stud Vector dialog appears. The dialog displays the values selected or entered while creating the Hole/Slot/Stud Vector.</p>
