                           <p class="para_note_body">When the die section is created, it uses the minimum length specified by Plus Length and Trim Ledge. &nbsp;If zero is specified, the system is free to create the segment at any length or not create that particular segment.</p>

               <p class="para_td">A binder curve must be input whenever you select a binder wrap surface. However it can also be used independent of a binder wrap surface. This curve is used to define the end of the addendum section.</p>
               <p class="para_td">The binder curve can be one of two types:</p>
               <ul>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">Addendum/binder &mdash; tangency the point at which the binder and addendum are tangent.</p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">Punch Opening &mdash; the theoretical intersection of the binder and addendum surfaces. </p>
                  </li>
               </ul>
            </td>

               <p class="para_td">Lets you create new section curve or modify existing section curves using the By Points method. This method is so named because you select the starting point of each section from points that are displayed on the addendum tangency curve. Sections that you create are listed by name in the scrolled window. By default each section curve lies in a plane that is parallel to the press direction and normal to the projection of the addendum tangency curve in the punch plane. The default orientation may be overridden by selecting a vector in the Section Plane Normal selection step.</p>
               <p class="para_td">You begin by setting the Filter to points and selecting one or more points on the addendum tangency curve to locate the starting point of each section. Only sampled or inserted points are selectable. Points already used to create a section are not selectable to create another section.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Four section types are possible:</p>
               <ul class="unmarkedList">
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item"><img align="bottom" src="graphics/die_sect_basic.gif" border="0">Basic is the &quot;traditional&quot; section type in which alternating straight segments and arc segments cascade down like stair steps.
                     </p>
                     <p class="para_item"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/die_sect_drawbar.gif" border="0">Draw Bar describes a section type in which the die punch radius segment rises up in a prong like manner before dropping down again.
                     </p>
                     <p class="para_item"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/die_sect_simple.gif" border="0">Simple is a variation of the basic type with many of the segments set to zero.
                     </p>
                     <p class="para_item"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/die_sect_channel.gif" border="0">Channel describes a section type used to bridge between two sheet bodies.
                     </p>
                     <p class="para_item"> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/die_sect_blend.gif" border="0">Blend is a special type that is used to blend between an existing addendum and a binder surface. No binder curve is used in this case.
                     </p>
                  </li>
               </ul>
               <ul>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">Displacement - the amount of metal movement</p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">e_N - the normal strain</p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">e_A - the strain along the section.</p>
                  </li>
               </ul>
               <p class="para_td">Select Create to build the sections.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Select Display Analysis Data to show flange analysis data for the selected section in the Information window.</p>
               <p class="para_td">You may also modify the parameters of an existing section created using the By Points method.</p>
               <p class="para_td">First set the Filter to Section. Then select a section in one of three ways:</p>
               <ul>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">Select the section in the graphics window</p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">Choose the section in the list box</p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">Use the Up and Down arrows in the dialog or on the keyboard (the list box must have focus)</p>
                  </li>
               </ul>
               <p class="para_td">Use the Plane Subfunction to select or define a plane. This will determine the orientation of the section and the anchor point of the section will be calculated by intersecting the plane with the addendum tangency curve.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Insert Point displays the Modify Point dialog to let you modify the starting point of the section.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Finally select Modify to display a dialog that lists all of the parameters that may be adjusted for each section.</p>
            </td>
         </tr>

               <p class="para_td">This step lets you specify a vector to define a new plane normal for a section created by the  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('dieengr/die_section_dialog.html#options_die_section_dialog_sections_by_points');return(false);">Sections by Points</a> method or Edit method. Set the Filter to Section and select a section from the list box. Then set the Filter to Vector to display the Vector Method pull-down menu in the changeable window. Use the Vector Method to specify the desired vector for the new plane normal.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">Plane Subfunction - Lets you define a plane to be selected with the &quot;vector&quot; filter.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Create Conjugate Plane - Lets you create a plane that follows the flow of the surface at the tangency edge.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Update Section - Use this option to reorient the selected section to the plane normal that is parallel to the currently defined vector. Both the section and the vector remain highlighted until you choose another section. Redefining the section normal plane does not remove associativity to the point from which it was created.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Reset to Default - Use this option to reset the default value (see the  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('dieengr/die_section_dialog.html#options_die_section_dialog_sections_by_points');return(false);">Sections by Points</a> selection step for more information).
               </p>
            </td>
         </tr>

               <p class="para_td">This step lets you supply sections for the addendum surface that you created using tools in other parts of the system. You may use this selection step as an alternative to the  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('dieengr/die_section_dialog.html#options_die_section_dialog_sections_by_points');return(false);">Sections by Points</a> selection step or in conjunction with it.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">In this step you may select any objects that meet the criteria of the current Filter setting: Any, Curve, Edge, Sketch, or String. After choosing Apply each object is evaluated and sorted into contiguous strings. Each string must have one of its endpoints touching the addendum tangency curve. Strings in error are highlighted, and you are asked to correct them before Apply can be executed.</p>
            </td>

               <p class="para_td">Lets you optionally edit the shape of sections or delete sections. You must select a section from the graphics window or the list box before the Edit, Delete, Cut, and Copy buttons become active.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Edit temporarily replaces this dialog with the  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('dieengr/die_section_params.html');return(false);">Section Parameters</a> dialog. This dialog allows you to edit any section (independent of creation method) by methods similar to editing expressions. The association to the creation method is lost when an edit is performed.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">Delete removes the selected section.</p>
            </td>
         </tr>

               <p class="para_td">Lets you add sections between existing sections. You can select a point on the addendum tangency curve or use the Insert Point button to define a new point. Choose the Edit button to create the section using default parameters. The Section Parameters dialog is displayed to allow you to alter the section parameters as desired. Choose the Paste button to create the section using the information of the section that has been most recently cut/copied. Choose the Create System Sections button to create the sections that are built between existing sections when the surface is created.</p>
            </td>

               <p class="para_td">Applies a filter mask to aid in the selection process. The Filter is used extensively on the Die Section dialog, particularly with the Sections by Points, Section Plane Normal and Sections by Curves selection steps.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Extend to Binder Area</p>
