      <div class="title_division">Description</div>
      <p class="para_division">A Return Flange is a flange that has a &quot;return&quot; condition on the first break radius. That is, the flange ends up toward the underside of the part, instead of straight down (wipe flange) or away (spank) flange.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Purpose</div>
      <p class="para_division">Determine if the included angle between the return flange and the adjacent surface will result in a weak lower flange steel.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Computational Method</div>
      <p class="para_division">The DFM Advisor performs a sectional analysis for the return flange on only those sections that have one flat segment. This check uses 3-D radial sections (sections cut normal to the tangency curve). The direction of the press travel, or the flanging do not have any effect of the evaluation of this criteria. The steps used to perform this check are listed below.</p>

            <p class="para_item">The face that is attached to the return flange is found, and a 3D radial section is cut on it. The tangent on this curve nearest the flange is the &quot;tangent to part face&quot; direction.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Next the tangent to the flat portion of the return flange is computed.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The angle between these two directions is the include angle used for this check. This angle must be greater than the site specified values or a nonconformance is reported. The image below illustrates this measurement.</p>
