      <p class="para_topic">This function performs an animation that can be useful as a visual check of the movement of the die press. You can examine the interplay between the movement of the members and sheet metal being formed in the die. A button is available to show the initial contact point of the die member with the sheet metal.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">There are two dialogs associated with this function, the main Punch Progression dialog and the Settings dialog. In addition, the main dialog has two distinct parts. The top part collects the geometric information, and the bottom part contains the movement controls. The bottom part of the main dialog remains inactive until the Calculate button is pressed. After the bottom part has been activated, if any geometry selection is modified, the bottom part must be reactivated.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Die Curve - Lets you select one or more planar curves to represent the shape of the die portion of the die. Curves that lie in a common plane must be chainable and represent an open profile. Pushing this button after animation movements have been made reinitializes the movement portion of the dialog, allowing you to change the selected curves.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Wrap Curve - Lets you select planar curves to represent the initial shape of the sheet metal before the die movements to be examined begin. Curves that lie in a common plane must be chainable and represent an open profile. Pushing this button after animation movements have been made reinitializes the movement portion of the dialog.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Ram Direction - Lets you select a vector, using the Vector Method if necessary, to define the direction the ram moves when the press closes.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Binder Curve - Lets you optionally select planar curves to represent sections of the binder ring. For each side of the binder, curves that lie in a common plane must be chainable and represent an open profile. Pushing this button after animation movements have been made reinitializes the movement portion of the dialog. If no binder curves are selected, the ends of the Wrap Curve section are used as the binder ring section.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Punch Curve - Lets you optionally select planar curves to represent the sections of the punch. These sections are to show the punch at its full depth. Curves that lie in a common plane must be chainable and represent an open profile. Pushing this button after animation movements have been made reinitializes the movement portion of the dialog. If no punch sections are provided, a copy of the die sections is used.</p>

               <p class="para_td">The Class Selection common tool is available with the Die Curve, Wrap Curve, Binder Curve and Punch Curve selection steps, to aid in selecting the desired objects.</p>

               <p class="para_td">If the selected planar curves used to define the sheet metal, die, binder and punch represent only half of a symmetric part, then check the Symmetric box. The selected data is mirrored about the end of the Wrap Curves that were first selected.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Die Stroke</p>

               <p class="para_td">After you have selected all of the geometry and have specified a punch direction, you can click the Calculate button next to the Die Stroke label. You will see error messages if any of the selected curves are non-planar, or if section curves could not be created.</p>
               <p class="para_td">The system then calculates the distance from the punch first contact of the wrap curve to the punch fully closed.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Sections for the sheet metal, die, punch and binder are either copied or computed. The working copies of the die members are displayed using the new color assigned from the Settings dialog. The working copy of the sheet metal is displayed in the highlight color. The movement portion of the dialog is activated, and each component of the die is moved independently using the Member buttons and animation controls. Additional animation, display and save settings are available on the  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('dieengr/die_punch_progression_set.html');return(false);">Settings</a> dialog.

               <p class="para_td">This section of the dialog lets you specify which member to move. If the movement is by steps, then the percent and distance are updated with each step. The amount of each step is controlled by the increment setting. You can move only one member at a time.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Punch - Turning on the Punch button and pushing Step Forward moves the punch sections in the punch direction the Increment amount. The shape of the sheet metal sections resulting from the movement are computed, and the display and values of the current position are updated.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Die - Turning on the Die button and pushing Step Forward moves the die sections in the direction opposite to the punch direction the Increment amount. The shape of the sheet metal sections resulting from the movement are computed, and the display and values of the current position are updated.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Binder - Turning on the Binder button and pushing Step Forward moves the binder sections in the direction opposite to the punch direction the Increment amount. The shape of the sheet metal sections resulting from the movement are computed, and the display and values of the current position are updated.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Animation Controls</p>

               <p class="para_td">The Animation Controls let you view the movement of the selected die members. Controls include:</p>
               <p class="para_td">Begin - Click to move the animation to its beginning point.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Step Back - Click to move the animation back one step, which is the amount specified in the Settings dialog  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('dieengr/die_punch_progression_set.html');return(false);">Step</a> field. The punch is moved in the direction opposite to the punch direction. The binder and die are moved in the punch direction.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">Step Forward - Click to move the animation forward one step, moving the selected member the amount specified in the Settings dialog  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('dieengr/die_punch_progression_set.html');return(false);">Step</a> field. The punch is moved in the punch direction. The binder and die are moved in the direction opposite to the punch direction.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">End - Click to move the animation of the selected member to its end point, corresponding to 100 percent.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Play - Click the Play button to start the full animation for the selected member die movement. The animation proceeds from beginning to end, and then restarts in an unbroken loop. A separate dialog displays a Stop Animation button while the animation is running; to stop the animation, click this button. You can modify the speed and range settings using the  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('dieengr/die_punch_progression_set.html');return(false);">Settings</a> dialog.
