These sections are contained in a
DIE_ADD_SECTION
feature.

Normally you create the addendum surface completely around the perimeter of the product part. However, an option exists to limit the extent of the addendum surface by selecting points that define the range. Only the sections defined within the range are used to create the surface.

You can optionally trim the addendum at construction time by using the same planes you selected to define the limit points, or by selecting curves that define the trimmed region. Curves that you select to define the trim boundaries are projected onto the addendum in the Z direction.

If the part addendum tangency curve has a corner, and you want a different addendum shape on the two sides of the corner, use the Addendum Section command to create the required sections at the corner point. Then create the addendum surface with these sections. See Create addendum section features at corners for more information.

You can also get corner shapes of better quality by automatic bridging around convex corners where two die sections with dissimilar shapes are anchored, as shown in the following figure.

The following figure is an example of an addendum surface where one of the two sections anchored at the convex corner has zero plus length, and there is no target (binder) curve.

When the
DIE_ADD_SECTION
feature is composed of very few section curves (as little as one section curve is permissible), the software attempts to fill in the gaps between section curves, by creating additional sections. In this case, it is possible for adjacent sections to cross, causing the surface build process to fail. This occurs frequently when the addendum tangency curve has concave regions. You can avoid this situation by filling concave areas with
DIE_AREA_FILL
features.

The output of this command is a sheet body representing a
DIE_ADD_SURFACE
feature. This sheet body is automatically sewn to the DIE_OUTPUT feature.
