Each section lies in a plane defined by the user and is composed of eleven individual segments, some of which may collapse to zero. Several parameters exist to control the shape and orientation of each segment. In general, the parameters of each segment are defined automatically by the software to achieve the formability properties that you desire. However, you can override any parameter.

To use this option, you must have first created at least one DIE_FORM_TASK. Minimal input to this function is the sheet body containing a DIE_FORM_TASK feature. Optional input includes a binder surface and an addendum/binder tangency curve. The output of this function is a single DIE_ADD_SECTION feature that is composed of one or more spline curves representing the addendum sections.

Three methods are available to create sections: Sections By Points, Sections By Curves and Edit.

Sections By Points

This method allows you to select points on the addendum tangency curve to locate the section. Otherwise you must provide the initial displacement and strain information at the neutral point.

Sections By Curves

In this method, you supply a section curve obtained outside of this package. The system analyzes the curve to derive the parameters that control its shape.

Edit

This method lets you manually alter the parameters defining the shape of the section. When you change a parameter, the software automatically adjusts other parameters of the curve to ensure that the section honors formability rules.
