Measurement points are used to specify a particular area of a part that needs to be measured. They are used on contoured surfaces, holes, edges and pins. These points may be physically measured using any number of measurement devices including coordinate measurement machines, hand held measurement devices, optics or lasers. The measurement point identifies the "design" location that is compared to the actual measured location to aid in determining whether a part is within acceptable tolerance.

The Manufacturing Process Aid Wizard creates, edits and manages measurement point features. Each such feature is made up of a specific location, a direction vector, a name and any number of attributes. Measurement Point features can be created on solid faces or sheets. You can control the location of the point and the direction of its vector, which can be normal to a surface or "snapped" to a coordinate direction. This module makes no attempt to analyze geometry and select measurement points according to any design rules. You must supply this expertise.
