      <p class="para_division"><img align="bottom" src="graphics/ico_t_pierce_design.gif" border="0"> <b class="uiTerm"> Piercing Insert Design</b> allows you to:
      </p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Design normal and fine piercing punch, die, and cavity/slug holes based on the shape of the scrap with identical die-punch clearance.             </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Create, edit, or delete an array of duplicate piercing inserts. For more information, see <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('pdw/piercing_insert_array_overview.html');return(false);">Piercing Insert </a>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Create precision blanks to be formed by another die in subsequent die operations. For more information, see <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('pdw/fine_blank_overview.html');return(false);">Fine Blanking</a>.

      <div class="title_division">Design tab</div>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Design</b> tab provide functions that design Normal and  Fine blanking piercing punch and also includes a set of design procedure buttons to select between punch creation for piercing features that are non-symmetrical (user-defined) or standard shapes, such as round holes (standard punches). Click the Load Die Insert button to open the die insert design standard parts dialog box.  You also use this dialog to create slug holes and die cavities. <b class="uiTerm">PDW </b>can automatically locate piercing punch and die in the center of selected scraps.

      <div class="title_division">To create a user-defined punch</div>

            <p class="para_item">Select the scrap or scraps to be punched from the strip. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click Create User Defined Punch.</p>

                  <p class="para_item">You can&nbsp;edit&nbsp;default length: &quot;ceil(&lt;PDW_VAR&gt;::PDW_PUNCH_PENETRATION+&lt;PDW_DB&gt;::PP_DP_CL), &quot;ceil&quot; is a function to&nbsp;&nbsp; round-up the value,only for Metric unit; &quot;&lt;PDW_VAR&gt;::PDW_PUNCH_PENETRATION&quot;&nbsp;is&nbsp;set&nbsp;in Die Design Setting; &quot;&lt;PDW_DB&gt;::PP_DP_CL&quot; is automatically calculated according to die base type. </p>
               </li>

                  <p class="para_item">Because you may pick several scraps at one time,&nbsp;you can decide whether to create one punch for&nbsp;all of them by checking toggle button &quot;Create ONE punch for all the selected scraps&quot;. The default is off. </p>

                              <p class="para_note_body">You can indicate parent part for each user defined punch. </p>

      <p class="para_division"> If you check Fineblanking,  you are allowed to pick only one scrap,  The dialog will automatically list variable offsest for the profile of the scrap.  These values are retrieved from a customizable spreadsheet: <code>$PDIEIWIZARD_DIR\ configuration\offset\)</code>. There are two types of spreadsheets:  
      </p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><code>pdw_offset_table_eu.xls/xs4</code> for English design units.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><code>pdw_offset_table_mu.xls/xs4</code> for Metric design units.
            </p>
         </li>

            <p class="para_item"></p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">You can modify the spreadsheet according to your company's design standards. You can click the spreadsheet button <img align="bottom" src="graphics/ico_t_spreasheet.gif" border="0"> to open the spreadsheet directly. If you do not want die-punch clearance in the Punch side, just use Normal mode and turn off Offset Punch.       </p>
      <div class="title_division">To create a standard punch</div>
      <p class="para_division">To create a standard punch:</p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the scrap to be punched from the strip.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click Load Standard Punch.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select proper type and size of punch from library and load punch.</p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">To edit the size of the standard punches, choose Load Standard Punch, then pick the punch from the screen and click the dimension tab to access the parameters.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <div class="title_division">To create a piercing die</div>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the scrap or scraps that will be punched using the piercing insert group.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click Load Die Insert.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose the proper type and size of die and load die insert.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose Cavity Hole type with proper parameter value and choose Slug hole type for Bottom Backing Plate and Die Shoe.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click Apply.</p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">To edit the size of the standard die, choose Load Die Insert, then pick the&nbsp;die insert&nbsp;from the screen and click the dimension tab to access the parameters.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">There&nbsp;are two&nbsp;toggle buttons&nbsp;to control slug hole number in BBP and DS respectively: </p>
            <ul>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">For each scrap : if you check on this, then each scrap will generate a slug hole in BBP or DS plate. Otherwise all selected scraps will share one slug hole.</p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">To edit a cavity hole or slug hole, click the cavity hole or slug hole from the graphics screen, change the parameter values and types, then click Apply. </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">You can change the slug hole type from the pulldown menu or by clicking Edit Slug Hole (in DS) or Edit Slug Hole (in BBP button), then edit the type and parameters using the Standard Part Management dialog box. </p>

                              <p class="para_note_body">Cavity hole type can not be changed after it has been created.</p>
                              <p class="para_note_body">If you don't load die insert, then cavity hole will be generate in Die Plate directly. </p>
                              <p class="para_note_body">Here, PDW only generate cavity hole and slug hole solid bodies, real holes will be created by PDW Pocket Design module.</p>
                              <p class="para_note_body">If you design Overcut for the scrap, Cavity Hole may fail to be generated, because the tiny overcut can not be offseted or UG fail to extrude the lower quality profile.&nbsp; In this case, you need to manually create them. </p>
                           </div>
                        </td>
