      <p class="para_division">Using <b class="uiTerm">Insert</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Welding</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Resistance Seam</b>, you can insert resistance seam welds between a specified set of faces and define criteria for the weld.

      <p class="para_division">To access the <b class="uiTerm">Seam Weld</b> dialog box in the insert mode:

This icon appears sensitive at all times. For resistance seam welds, you can select a minimum of two and maximum of four face sets, each set comprising at least one face.

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Reference Sheet</b> selection icon <img align="bottom" src="graphics/icon_refsht.gif" border="0"> to create a reference sheet when you have selected all the faces for the weld. This icon appears sensitive after you have selected at least two sets of faces.

            </th>

               <p class="para_td">Lets you place a seam weld on the reference sheet along a specified location or path. (See <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/ref_fsel.html');return(false);">Face Selection</a> for tips on face selection.)
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Along Guide Curve</b>: Lets you select a guide curve on which to place the seam. The <b class="uiTerm">Previous</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Next</b> buttons are unavailable when this option is selected. This option allows you to select curves that are in the part file (either piece part or assembly). In case more than one guide curve needs to be selected, select all the curves in a series, without gaps between them. The guide curve you select is projected onto the reference sheet, thus creating reference curves.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Offset from Guide Edge</b>: Lets you select reference edge(s) from the reference sheet, and specify offset distance from this edge. The <b class="uiTerm">Previous</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Next</b> buttons appear insensitive when this option is selected. In case you need to select two or more reference edges, select the start edge and end edge from the reference sheet. The seam weld is created on the overlap area with the specified offset distance from reference edges. In case two or more reference edges are to be selected, either select all the edges, or select the first and last edge from the overlap face.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">When you choose <b class="uiTerm">Place on Center Line</b>, the reference curves are obtained by projecting the center spline (that was created by using a set of input edges) on to the reference sheet. This option lets you select two sets of edges from the reference sheet that are highlighted in the graphics window. Each set contains a start and end edge for that set (Some sets may have only one edge). All the intermediate edges are automatically selected. The seam weld is created in the reference sheet area, between the two sets of selected reference edges.
               </p>
            </td>

               <p class="para_td">Lets you set the extents for the resistance seam weld.</p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Entire Length</b>: Allows you to create a seam weld for the entire length (minus the <b class="uiTerm">Distance from Ends</b>) of intersection of the two bodies.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Set Ends</b>: After you choose <b class="uiTerm">OK</b>, the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.popUpPage('shared_func/index.html?goto=shared_func/com_ptcon_d.html&vars=-aux,-home','linkInter','menubar=yes,status=yes,resizable=yes,toolbar=yes,scrollbars=yes,location=no,directories=no');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Point</b></a> dialog box appears, asking you to set two points on the intersection curve. The resistance seam weld will be created between these two points. If the specified set point lies on the end point of the intersection curve, the minimum edge distance will be applied for that point.
               </p>
            </td>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Continuous</b>: Allows you to create a seam weld continuously between specified extents (<b class="uiTerm">Entire Length</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Set Ends</b>). When you choose this option, the <b class="uiTerm">Spacing</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Number of Welds</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Segment Length</b> options are unavailable.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Skip</b>: Lets you create skip seam welds between specified extents (<b class="uiTerm">Entire Length</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Set Ends</b>).
               </p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Spacing</b>: Allows you to specify the distance between two consecutive seam welds. The default value is taken from the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/preferences.html');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Weld Preferences</b></a> dialog box. When this option is on, <b class="uiTerm">Number of Welds</b> is unavailable.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Number of Welds</b>: Allows you to specify the number of seam welds. When this option is on, <b class="uiTerm">Spacing</b> is unavailable. The default value for this field is 2. This option is on by default.
               </p>

                           <p class="para_note_body"> You can define either the spacing between two consecutive welds, or the number of welds. Once you define the value for one, Weld Assistant generates the value for the other.</p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Segment Length</b>: Allows you to specify the segment length for the <b class="uiTerm">Skip</b> method. This option is on by default.
               </p>
            </td>
         </tr>
         <tr>

            <p class="para_item">In the Modeling application, click <b class="uiTerm">Insert</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Welding</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Resistance Seam</b>.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">OR</p>
            <p class="para_item">Click the <b class="uiTerm">Resistance Seam</b> button <img align="bottom" src="graphics/icon_res_seam.gif" border="0"> on the <b class="uiTerm">Weld Assistant</b> toolbar. The <b class="uiTerm">Seam Weld</b> dialog box appears, and you are cued to select the first set of faces.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Turn <b class="uiTerm">Associative Output</b> on to create an associative weld. Otherwise turn it off.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/res_seam.html#resistance_res_seam_seam_dlg_gsel');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Face</b></a> selection icon  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/icon_fsel.gif" border="0">, and select the first set of faces. Click the <b class="uiTerm">Next</b> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/butt_down.gif" border="0"> button and select the next set of faces. You must select a minimum of two sets of faces, each set comprising at least one face. Use the <b class="uiTerm">Previous</b> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/butt_up.gif" border="0"> and <b class="uiTerm">Next</b> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/butt_down.gif" border="0"> buttons to traverse through face sets. You can select a maximum of four sets of faces.             <p class="para_item">Click the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/res_seam.html#resistance_res_seam_seam_dlg_sht');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Reference Sheet</b></a> selection icon <img align="bottom" src="graphics/icon_refsht.gif" border="0"> and create a reference sheet by selecting the top face. You can place the seam weld on the reference sheet using any of the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/res_seam.html#resistance_res_seam_seam_dlg_loc');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Location</b></a> options. In case several overlap bodies are created, the <b class="uiTerm">Previous</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Next</b> Reference Sheet buttons are made available for you to traverse through overlap bodies. In case of a single overlap body, these buttons are unavailable.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/res_seam.html#resistance_res_seam_seam_dlg_scf');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Reference Edges/Curves</b></a> if you are creating an associative seam weld. The label automatically updates to <b class="uiTerm">Select Curves</b> in case the <b class="uiTerm">Along Guide Curve</b> location option is selected. For the other two location options, the option label remains <b class="uiTerm">Select Edges</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/res_seam.html#resistance_res_seam_seam_dlg_loc');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Location</b></a>. The <b class="uiTerm">Along Guide Curve</b> location option is selected by default.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In your graphics window, select curves and edges according to the <b class="uiTerm">Location</b> option chosen in the <b class="uiTerm">Resistance Seam</b> dialog box. See <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/ref_fsel.html');return(false);">Face Selection</a> for tips on face selection.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/res_seam.html#resistance_res_seam_seam_dlg_off');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Offset Distance</b></a>. This option is available if you have selected the <b class="uiTerm">Offset from Guide Edge Location</b> option.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/res_seam.html#resistance_res_seam_seam_dlg_roll');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Roller Width</b></a>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/res_seam.html#resistance_res_seam_seam_dlg_exts');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Extents</b></a> for the weld. If you select <b class="uiTerm">Set Ends</b>, the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.popUpPage('shared_func/index.html?goto=shared_func/com_ptcon_d.html&vars=-aux,-home','linkInter','menubar=yes,status=yes,resizable=yes,toolbar=yes,scrollbars=yes,location=no,directories=no');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Point Constructor</b></a> dialog box appears after you click <b class="uiTerm">OK</b>. Use the <b class="uiTerm">Point Constructor</b> dialog box to set the end points for the seam weld, and click <b class="uiTerm">OK</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Enter the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/res_seam.html#resistance_res_seam_seam_dlg_dist');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Distance from Ends</b></a> and choose the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/res_seam.html#resistance_res_seam_seam_dlg_meth');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Method</b></a>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If you have chosen <b class="uiTerm">Skip Method</b>, specify the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/res_seam.html#resistance_res_seam_seam_dlg_skp');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Skip</b> options</a>. These options are unavailable for the <b class="uiTerm">Continuous</b> method.
            </p>
         </li>

            <p class="para_item">Choose <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> to create the weld and exit the dialog box. Or click <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> to create the weld and keep the <b class="uiTerm">Seam Weld</b> dialog box open.
            </p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <p class="para_division">The resistance seam weld is created.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Editing</div>
      <p class="para_division">In the <b class="uiTerm">Edit</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Feature</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Edit Parameters</b> dialog box, or in the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.popUpPage('modeling/index.html?goto=modeling/partnav_overview.html&vars=-aux,-home','linkInter','menubar=yes,status=yes,resizable=yes,toolbar=yes,scrollbars=yes,location=no,directories=no');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Part Navigator</b></a>, choose the seam weld feature to edit . The selected weld feature is highlighted in the graphics window. The <b class="uiTerm">Seam Weld</b> dialog box appears in the edit mode.

            <p class="para_item">On the <b class="uiTerm">Seam Weld</b> dialog box, choose the <b class="uiTerm">Face</b> selection icon <img align="bottom" src="graphics/icon_fsel.gif" border="0">. The current set is highlighted in the graphics window. Use the <b class="uiTerm">Previous</b> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/butt_down.gif" border="0"> and <b class="uiTerm">Next</b> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/butt_up.gif" border="0"> buttons to navigate to the set you want to edit.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Add or remove faces for the set, and click <b class="uiTerm">OK</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
      </ol><a name="resistance_res_seam_seam_add"></a><div class="title_division">To add a set</div>
      <ol type="1" start="1">

            <p class="para_item">On the <b class="uiTerm">Seam Weld</b> dialog box, choose the <b class="uiTerm">Face</b> selection icon <img align="bottom" src="graphics/icon_fsel.gif" border="0">. The current set is highlighted in the graphics window. Use the <b class="uiTerm">Previous</b> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/butt_down.gif" border="0"> and <b class="uiTerm">Next</b> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/butt_up.gif" border="0"> buttons to traverse through sets till no faces are highlighted. This indicates that you can now select faces for a new set.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select faces in the graphics window and click the <b class="uiTerm">Next</b> button.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify the other parameters as required.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click <b class="uiTerm">OK</b>.
