      </table><br><div class="title_division">Preparation for Scrap Design</div>
      <p class="para_division">Before you can design the scrap, you must create splitting geometry that defines the outside boundary of the whole scrap. Four assistant lines are needed for a single row layout. Six assistant lines are needed for two row layouts. The assistant lines must form a closed loop with the boundary of the blanks and edges of the strip. </p>

      <p class="para_division">You can use basic curve creation tools (lines, circles, and arcs) but because the quality of the scrap boundary can affect downstream piercing insert cavity and slug hole design, it is best if you design the scrap profile using the Sketcher. </p>
      <div class="title_division">Create Splitting lines</div>

            <p class="para_item">Click <b class="uiTerm">Scrap Design</b> to open the <b class="uiTerm">Scrap</b> dialog box so the software can automatically link the 3 blanks. .
            </p>

            <p class="para_item">Click <b class="uiTerm">Cancel</b> to close the dialog box and open <b class="uiTerm">NX Sketch</b> <img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/toolbars/modeling/form_feature/sketch.gif" border="0">. Use the Sketcher to the splitting lines that will outline your scrap.

      <p class="para_division">To use <b class="uiTerm">Extract Entire Scrap</b>, the left and right parts must have boundaries in the same place and be oriented in exactly the same manner. The assistant line boundary examples below show correct (1) and incorrect (2) orientation.

      <p class="para_division">Use <b class="uiTerm">Define Individual Scrap</b> <img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/dialogs/wizards/scrap/define_individual_scrap.gif" border="0"> to create a scrap that is associative to the blank part.&nbsp;
      </p><a name="sd_define_individual"></a><div class="title_division">Define Individual Scrap</div>
      <p class="para_division">Use <b class="uiTerm">Define Individual Scrap</b> to create a scrap that is associative to the blank part. This is most powerful and useful tool to create associative scrap.  You can use NX Sketch to define the boundary outside of blank profile.

                  <p class="para_item">Remove selected edges or curves individually by clicking <b class="uiTerm">Backward</b> <img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/dialogs/wizards/scrap/back.gif" border="0">, or by deselecting them in the graphics window.

                  <p class="para_item">Click <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b>, if the displayed scrap is acceptable, click <b class="uiTerm">Keep</b>.
